ABBYY launches a new R&D centre and a Centre of Excellence at major locations in India to expand its global presence and deliver local digital solutions

Eager to meet growing AI demands, ABBYY announces the opening of new offices in India.

The global technology company is eager to further expand its purpose-built AI solutions by launching a research and development (R&D) centre in Bengaluru and a Centre of Excellence in New Delhi. It is the hope that these strategic locations deliver localised solutions across India and continue driving success for its partners and customers worldwide.

Leading the official opening is Yathiraj Shetty Kasargod, the newly appointed director of Product Operations for ABBYY India. With more than 20 years of experience in software engineering, he is well positioned to spearhead this launch.

“India's vibrant tech ecosystem and unrivalled talent offer tremendous opportunities for organisations to leverage our AI-powered intelligent automation offerings,” comments Ulf Persson, CEO at ABBYY.

India: Powering ahead with AI growth

So far in 2024, India has become one of the most impactful technology markets in the world. As its digital economy has continued to rapidly accelerate, AI and cloud technologies remain the main priority as businesses power ahead with their investments.

Increased demand for these services has left India experiencing a dramatic period of unprecedented digital growth, with the country now anticipated to become one of the largest economies by 2027. Forrester has even forecast that technology spending in India will increase to US$54.5bn by this time.

As a result, companies like ABBYY are well poised to set up offices across the region. Primarily focused on its software as a service (SaaS) model, ABBYY serves clients worldwide - its most notable being Everest Group, ISG and Arsenal Women.

Recognised as a leader in intelligent document processing (IDP), ABBYY utilises innovative purpose-built AI models to enable businesses to work faster and smarter.

Its approach to AI has proven to generate real business value for thousands of global enterprises across multiple industries, ad hoc processes and documents in any language. The company has experienced enormous growth in demand for its AI in India, which comes as AI-augmented software stands to outpace other IT categories.

Breaking boundaries

Looking ahead, businesses are continuing to invest in AI and automation to gain value, hoping the technology will improve their operational efficiencies and drive faster growth. ABBYY aims to be at the forefront of this transformation, helping people transform their lives, businesses and the future of work.

The company is planning to hire new talent for its R&D centre and the Centre of Excellence locations in India. This stands to complement its existing R&D footprint across key locations in EMEA and North America, including development centres in Hungary, Serbia, Cyprus and the United States.

ABBYY’s other locations in APAC include Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and Australia.

“It is a pleasure to join ABBYY and spearhead the expansion in India to enhance and diversify our capabilities,” says Yathiraj Shetty Kasargod. “I look forward to working with the global ABBYY team to meet customers where they do business.”
