Computing manufacturing corporation, Nvidia is opening its debut research and development (R&D) centre in Vietnam that will focus on AI.

This centre will engage industry leaders, government agencies, universities and start-ups to accelerate the adoption of AI.

By collaborating with the Vietnamese government, Nvidia can leverage this centre to capitalise on the country’s strength of STEM engineers.

Not only will this centre focus on software development, but it also indicates Nvidia’s confidence in the future of AI in Vietnam.

Nvidia is an internationally acclaimed technology company that GPUs that strived to transform gaming and computer graphics to begin with.

Now, the organisation has secured its position as a leader in software and AI hardware after expanding its speciality into data science, high-performing computing and AI. 

Nvidia’s work has transformed the boundaries of innovation in robotics, autonomous vehicles and machine learning.

Vietnam and AI

Driven by government support, a strong STEM talent pool and technological advancements, the AI industry in Vietnam has expanded significantly in recent years.

The country has remained driven to become a regional leader in R&D, build a robust AI ecosystem and foster innovation since it began promoting AI development in 2021. 

As part of Nvidia’s Inception program - which aims to empower the world’s technology start-ups -  the company actively works with over 100 Vietnamese AI start-ups.

Nvidia’s inaugural R&D centre in Vietnam

Vietnam is emerging as one of the world’s fastest-growing economies due to its vast expansion in automotive, electronics, textiles and manufacturing for technology. 

For the last eight years, Nvidia has invested in Vietnam’s technology industry and developed its first Vietnamese cloud partner when they began working alongside FPT Smart Cloud in 2023.

Start-ups and researchers will be able to develop key industries like finance, transportation, education and healthcare by leveraging the infrastructure in the R&D centre to develop AI applications.

The centre will also enhance AI innovation by crafting platforms for Nvidia and its partners.
