IBM’s security business has unveiled new tools that it has developed using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) that will be used to better enable its clients to protect and defend against cyberattacks.

One feature of this is the company’s new IBM X-Force Threat Management Services that use a unique AI engine to automate cybersecurity management. This platform calls on 600,000 historic incidents of cybercrime, then automating common steps to proactively prevent against cyberattacks without the need for human intervention.

“The collaboration between humans and intelligent machines is going to affect every industry,” said Marc van Zadelhoff, General Manager, IBM Security. “In security, we see this manifesting itself first in the security operations centre where the data only keeps growing.”

Further, IBM has also newly launched its Resilient Incident Response Platform with Intelligent Orchestration – an offering that vastly improves incident response by automating hundreds of repetitive and complicated actions without the need for human intelligence.

By reducing the complexities of these processes, the Platform allows businesses to implement advanced cybersecurity networks without needing to extensively understand the technicalities.

“Companies have an opportunity with breakthroughs like AI for active threat management and Intelligent Orchestration to rewire incident response procedures for the age of intelligence,” Zadelhoff continued.
