Chris McNeilly is the Vice President of Machine Learning at Chegg

Since 2016, he has incorporated Gen AI and ML solutions into Chegg’s work. Chris has also managed several projects, including matching homework questions to experts in the relevant subject matter, predicting skill and career progressions from resumes and course and topic tagging. He has continued to work to integrate Gen AI and LLM solutions into the work of Chegg since the launch of GPT 2.

Over his career, Chris has worked in a number of companies and industries to drive business value and has developed over 35 years of experience as an ML and AL technology executive.

What inspired you to get involved with Tech & AI LIVE New York?

Tech & AI LIVE has a great reputation for bringing tech leaders together, from big tech companies to startups, and covering topics such as Gen AI and the Metaverse. 

I’m excited to engage with this network and contribute to the latest conversations on these technologies. It’s an opportunity to bring my expertise and share more on how Chegg is leveraging Gen AI in higher education and supporting student outcomes.

Provide us with an overview of what you hope to focus on during the ‘Future of Generative AI’ panel discussion.

I’m honored to sit on this tenured panel to discuss the future of Gen AI. I’m looking forward to sharing more about Chegg’s commitment to enhancing student success through innovative solutions using Gen AI and making learning accessible.

What do you hope to achieve through Tech & AI LIVE New York?

This is my first time attending Tech & AI LIVE New York and I’m excited to connect with industry peers who are driving the implementation of technology solutions. 

We are leveraging advanced technologies like Gen AI at Chegg to create tailored learning experiences for students.  I’m looking forward to hearing more about how other companies are implementing innovative solutions with these cutting-edge technologies.

What emerging trends do you believe will shape the future of the technology and AI industries over the next decade?

Coming from the higher education industry, events like this share helpful insights on how other technology companies use advanced machine learning, data science and AI to solve business challenges and deliver value. Here are key trends I believe are shaping the future of technology and AI:

  • Ubiquitous AI Integration: AI will be deeply embedded in everyday applications, transforming software development and enhancing user experiences across various platforms.
  • Accelerated Scientific Research: AI will drive breakthroughs in medical research and materials science by rapidly analysing complex data and identifying patterns.
  • Collaborative Creative Tools: AI will empower human creativity by acting as intelligent collaborators, aiding in inspiration, technical complexities and sophisticated editing.

These trends point to an AI future that enhances human potential across professional and creative domains.
