Paula Starr, Chief Information Officer at Cherokee Nation

Paula Starr is the Chief Information Officer at the Cherokee Nation, a sovereign tribal government.

The government has over 450,000 tribal citizens globally, making it the largest federally-recognised tribe in the United States.

Across the 7,000 square-mile Cherokee reservation, Paula leads an IT department that supports around 5,000 employees.

She remains committed to transforming technology service delivery to enhance the lives of Cherokee citizens and is driven to uphold Cherokee community values.

Paula was recognised as the 2024 American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) Professional of the Year, was named by by HR Executive as a Top 100 HR Tech Influencer and was also named by Constellation Research as one of the top 150 executives leading the way for digital transformation.

She is also a well-known figure in the BizClik portfolio after being recognised as one of the Top Women in Technology.

Joanna Newman is the Ex Vice President of Technology at Vodafone and is now the AI Steward Program Contributor at MaRS Discovery District, North America’s largest urban innovation hub.

Over the course of her career, Joanna has gained experience in both Europe and Asia and has delivered significant initiatives that make up over US$1bn in annual revenue.

She specialised in migrating organisations to utilise cutting-edge technologies and explores the intersection of strategy, innovation and transformation.

Joanna strives to empower organisations to scale, innovate and thrive in a rapidly changing technology landscape.

🎤At Tech & AI LIVE New York, Joanna will feature on our ‘Driving Innovation: Technology & Sustainability’ panel discussion alongside Tia Cheang, Chief Product Officer at Nexus Digital Technology and Andrea Ruotolo, Global Head of Customer Sustainability & Responsible AI at Rockwell Automation.
