Tech & AI LIVE NY: The Future of Generative AI
At Tech & AI LIVE New York, experts Navneet Singh of Palo Alto Networks and Ravi Krishnamurthy of ServiceNow shared their perspectives on the present and future of generative AI.
Practical applications reshaping industries
The discussion kicked off with Navneet Singh and Ravi Krishnamurthy highlighting impactful generative AI applications across sectors.
Navneet emphasised AI's role in precision cybersecurity, where over 4,000 machine learning models developed at Palo Alto Networks help accurately detect threats while minimising false positives. In healthcare, he cited transformative research detecting cancer with 95% accuracy, underscoring AI's potential to save lives.
Ravi detailed how ServiceNow integrates AI to elevate customer experiences and improve workflows across industries, including telecommunications, financial services and government.
"We are enabling governments to deliver better citizen services despite budget constraints," he notes, adding that the combination of AI and automation enhances efficiency.
Shaping the future: Collaboration and education
Looking ahead, the speakers predict significant changes driven by AI.
Ravi envisions a future of enhanced human-AI collaboration, with ‘agent ecosystems’ orchestrating workflows to boost productivity. Governance, he stresses, would be crucial in ensuring positive outcomes and preventing misuse.
Navneet anticipates AI's transformative role in education, tailoring learning experiences to individual needs and in healthcare, enabling precise diagnostics and personalised treatment. He shares a compelling example where AI could assist doctors by recognising rare medical conditions, demonstrating its potential to augment human expertise responsibly.
The conversation also turned to workforce preparedness. Navneet suggests hiring AI natives alongside upskilling current employees to foster creativity and adaptability.
Ravi emphasises the importance of critical thinking, empathy, and domain expertise as essential skills in the evolving AI landscape.
Balancing innovation with ethics and regulation
Both speakers agree on the importance of ethical AI practices. Ravi advocates for governance models that integrate ethics and accountability from ideation to deployment, highlighting the risks of unchecked innovation.
Navneet stresses the need for diverse data training to ensure inclusivity and emphasises cybersecurity measures to prevent misuse by bad actors.
On regulation, they called for public-private partnerships to craft policies that balance innovation with protection. Navneet illustrates the value of creative governance with an example of AI being used to counter scammers, showcasing the positive potential of ethical AI.
