BlackBerry has teamed up with LG Electronics to speed up the deployment of connected and autonomous cars.

LG Electronics plans to use BlackBerry’s range of QNX software to create next-generation digital consolidated cockpits, infotainment systems, telematics systems, and more for OEMs. 

BlackBerry’s QNX technology is embedded in more than 150mn vehicles on the road today.

It’s used by over 40 OEMs including Audi MW, Ford, GM, Honda, Hyundai and others.

The news comes shortly after BlackBerry announced that its overall adjusted revenue rose 23% to $267mn in the first quarter of 2019, boosted by its $1.4bn acquisition of cybersecurity firm Cylance.
