Brightest and Allianz Join Forces on Carbon Management Tech

The United Nationsâ Framework on Climate Change is one of the worldâs leading authorities when it comes to matters of global sustainability.
As such, UNFCC edicts are taken as gospel. One of the bodyâs central principles is faith in technology.
âWe cannot address climate change without technology,â the group says.
Disentangling the threads of the climate crisis is perhaps the biggest challenge humanity will ever face and experts believe that without technology, this task will be all but impossible.
One of the technologies that will be crucial to the global pursuit of net zero is carbon management software.
These computer programs help companies and states to understand their carbon footprints and take meaningful action towards reducing their emissions.
Brightest is a company providing services like this, giving clients sustainability and ESG data solutions that can support efforts in carbon accounting and climate reporting.
The US-based firm has announced its partnership with insurance giant Allianz, which will become one of its flagship accounts.
It’s an agreement that could have a significant bearing on the future of corporate sustainability because, as Tina Sejersgård Fanø, EVP for Agriculture & Industrial Biosolutions at Novozymes says, “data, technology and finances form a triangle —they need to go hand in hand to create that sustainability revolution”.
Inside Brightestâs partnership with Allianz
The partnership between Brightest and Allianz comes at a time when global greenhouse gas emissions are on the rise, having increased by 1.9% between 2022 and 2023.
This collaboration aims to provide companies with comprehensive tools to measure, manage and reduce their carbon footprint while ensuring compliance with evolving international sustainability regulations.
âOur goal is to develop customer-centric solutions that address the real-world sustainability challenges that businesses and organisations face every day,â says Dr Funke Adeosun, Global Sustainability Solutions Practice Head at Allianz Commercial.
âWe take a holistic, strategic and adaptive approach to risk,â she says.
âWe recognise that one size does not fit all in âenergy transitionâ but that successful transition and resilience requires leveraging the right tools and technologies in the most effective ways for each client.
âOur collaboration with Brightest is about harnessing cutting-edge technology which can help the businesses we serve adopt quantitative, metrics focused and actionable approaches to their decarbonisation goals.â
The initiative represents a strategic combination of Allianzâs risk management expertise with Brightestâs technological capabilities.
Technology’s role in corporate emissions management
Under the arrangement, Allianz Commercial clients will be offered access to Brightest’s sustainability platform at reduced costs, with additional special benefits.
The technology enables businesses to track and report greenhouse gas emissions in alignment with frameworks including the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, International Sustainability Standards Board and the European Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive.
This comprehensive approach includes automated data collection and analysis tools designed to improve accuracy and efficiency in environmental reporting.
“By combining Allianz Commercial’s expertise in insurance and risk management with Brightest’s advanced technology, we’re empowering businesses to take a more data-driven, transparent and impactful approach to sustainability,” says Chris Bolman, CEO at Brightest.
The platform will also support companies in identifying reduction opportunities and setting achievable decarbonisation targets.
“Together, we can help companies not only meet regulatory requirements and effectively reduce and manage their risk, but also drive meaningful environmental progress at a crucial time in history,” Chris says.
