AWS announces Generative AI Partner Innovation Alliance
AWS expands global reach of AI innovation with Generative AI Partner Innovation Alliance, leveraging strategic partnerships to develop Gen AI solutions

As organisations grapple with the challenges and opportunities presented by AI and Gen AI technology, cloud providers like AWS are positioning themselves as key enablers of AI adoption and innovation.

Whilst businesses and governments seek to harness the potential of these technologies, major cloud providers are competing to establish themselves as leaders in the field.

Against this backdrop, Amazon Web Services (AWS), the world's largest cloud computing platform, has announced a significant expansion of its AI innovation program.

Recently, AWS announced the Gen AI Partner Innovation Alliance, a new initiative designed to expand the reach and impact of its Generative AI Innovation Center (GenAIIC).

What is AWS’s Gen AI Partner Innovation Alliance?

The GenAIIC, launched in June 2023, is a programme that connects customers with AWS's AI and machine learning experts to develop and implement generative AI solutions.

Alongside the GenAIIC, AWS is leveraging the expertise of its partners and aims to address one of the key challenges in AI adoption: the shortage of skilled professionals who can effectively implement and manage AI systems.

According to AWS, the new alliance will provide customers with access to a global network of systems integrators and consulting firms with expertise in generative AI.

These partners will utilise the GenAIIC's proven methodology to support customers in developing proof-of-concept and production implementations.

This collaborative approach is also expected to accelerate the pace of AI innovation across various industries.

By combining AWS's cloud infrastructure and AI services with the domain expertise of its partners, the alliance aims to lower the barriers to entry for organisations looking to leverage generative AI technologies.

Who will be part of the Gen AI Partner Innovation Alliance?

The Generative AI Partner Innovation Alliance will initially launch with nine partners, including Crayon, Booz Allen Hamilton, Megazone Cloud, NCS Group, Quanitphi and Escala24x7.

Chief Technology Officer at Crayon, Florian Rosenberg

"Through the Partner Innovation Alliance, we'll collaborate closely with AWS to implement rigorous security, risk management and governance frameworks that allow our customers across Europe to confidently and responsibly leverage generative AI's power", says Florian Rosenberg, Chief Technology Officer at Crayon.

These firms bring industry-specific and regional expertise to the program.

AWS also states that it will also engage with system integrators such as Caylent, Deloitte and Rackspace Technology.

This diverse group of partners reflects the global nature of the AI market and the need for localised expertise.

Each partner brings unique capabilities and market knowledge, allowing AWS to tailor its AI solutions to specific regional and industry requirements.

Global Head of the AWS Generative AI Innovation Center, Sri Elaprolu

Sri Elaprolu, Global Head of the AWS Generative AI Innovation Center, explains the program's approach: "We focus on developing end-to-end solutions and customising foundation models when necessary to address specific needs, always prioritising security and scalability."

“Now with a growing network of partners, we can help more customers harness generative AI to drive innovation, productivity, and hone their competitive advantage.”

This emphasis on customisation and security addresses two critical concerns in AI adoption: the need for solutions that fit specific business contexts and the imperative to ensure responsible and secure AI deployment.

Global impact and industry-specific solutions

The alliance aims to accelerate the adoption of Gen AI across various sectors and regions.

Escala 24x7

For instance, Elbano Milbelli Pérez, Principal Cloud Specialist at Escala 24x7, highlights the potential impact in Latin America and the Caribbean: "We're committed to helping organisations leverage AWS services and GenAIIC's proven approach to create customised language models tailored to the region's unique cultures and business contexts."

This focus on regional customisation is crucial for the effective deployment of AI technologies, particularly in areas where language and cultural nuances play a significant role in business operations.

Director of Gen AI at Booz Allen Hamilton, Alison Smith

Meanwhile, in the public sector, Alison Smith, Director of Gen AI at Booz Allen Hamilton, emphasises the opportunity to enhance mission delivery and improve citizen services through secure and ethical AI solutions: “In the public sector, we have a tremendous opportunity to use generative AI to enhance mission delivery and provide better services to citizens".

"By combining Booz Allen's deep public sector expertise with AWS's Generative AI Innovation Center resources, we can overcome barriers to adoption and drive real impact through secure, ethical and compliant generative AI solutions."

This application of AI in government services underscores the technology's potential to transform not just private enterprises but also public institutions.

As the alliance expands, it is expected to play a significant role in shaping the global adoption of Gen AI technologies across industries.

Vice President of Partner Core at AWS, Julia Chen

Julia Chen, Vice President of Partner Core at AWS, concludes: "By combining our partners' deep industry, use case and services expertise with AWS's cutting-edge generative AI tools and proven methodology, we can help scale and accelerate the transformative power of this technology to customers worldwide."
