How Cloud Provider Nasuni is Powering Leading Global Brands
Global brands are accelerating their adoption of cloud-based file services as they confront increased pressure to coordinate international operations and respond to rapid shifts in consumer demand. This trend has driven significant growth for enterprise storage provider Nasuni, which has highlighted its expanding relationships with multinational retailers and consumer goods manufacturers.
The shift comes as retailers and brands face mounting challenges in managing distributed workforces and global supply chains. Traditional on-premises storage systems, which often require separate infrastructure at each location, are proving inadequate for companies operating across multiple continents and time zones.
Nasuni’s File Data Platform delivers effortless scale in hybrid cloud environments, enables control at the network edge, and meets the modern enterprise expectation for insight- and AI-ready data. It simplifies file data management while increasing storage access and performance. Its best-in-class file recovery protects customers against a range of cyber threats and eliminates the need for specialised backup and disaster recovery – all while cutting the cost of infrastructure by up to 65%.
The Massachusetts-based company has secured contracts with companies including Mattel, Patagonia, Barnes & Noble and Pernod Ricard which are using Nasuni’s platform to centralise data storage and enable real-time file sharing across global operations.
Global brand operations
Mattel, which manufactures toys across multiple continents, has implemented Nasuni's platform across 100 global manufacturing and distribution sites. The implementation forms part of a broader IT consolidation strategy, which the company reports has delivered measurable cost reductions and operational improvements.
Outdoor clothing manufacturer Patagonia utilises the platform to manage creative workflows between international design centres and manufacturing facilities. The system enables real-time collaboration on product designs and marketing assets, which the company indicates has reduced time-to-market for new product launches.
Nick Burling, Senior Vice President of Product at Nasuni, says: “Nasuni empowers global organisations to transform their data into a strategic asset, driving faster decision-making and enabling timely product launches – which is especially vital during the high-demand holiday season.
“Our cloud solution not only enables distributed teams to collaborate seamlessly from anywhere at any time, but also eliminates IT complexity, reduces operational costs, and provides unmatched security for their most valuable assets.”
Infrastructure transformation
The platform's global namespace - a feature that creates a unified view of stored data regardless of physical location - enables retailers to coordinate inventory management and marketing assets across multiple sites. This capability has attracted US wholesaler BJ's Wholesale Club and homeware retailer Crate & Barrel to adopt the technology.
Barnes & Noble, which operates 600 retail outlets across the US, has transitioned from traditional on-premises storage infrastructure to Nasuni's cloud-based platform. The bookseller uses the system to manage its digital asset library and print media inventory across its retail network.
Barnes & Noble's Director of Infrastructure, Richard Llewellyn, reports significant infrastructure savings: "By going with Nasuni, we were able to eliminate all of the on-prem hardware from our data centre, along with all the associated costs around maintenance and software licensing. It's a flexible, good tool. It's definitely something you want to have in your toolbox."
Retail technology adoption
The platform enables organisations to maintain local copies of frequently accessed files while storing the primary data in cloud services. This hybrid approach, known as edge caching, reduces the bandwidth required for file access while maintaining data consistency across locations.
Williams Sonoma, which operates multiple retail brands in the homeware sector, uses Nasuni to centralise design assets and strengthen cybersecurity measures for its media libraries. The platform provides uniform security protocols across the retailer's international operations.
Consumer appliance manufacturers Dyson and SharkNinja have also implemented Nasuni’s platform to manage product design files and marketing assets across their global operations. Drinks manufacturer Pernod Ricard utilises the system to coordinate its international brand management activities.
Clothing retailer Tommy Bahama has adopted the platform to manage its retail operations and e-commerce infrastructure. The system enables the company to maintain consistent product information across physical stores and online channels.
As Barnes & Noble’s Richard Llewellyn concludes: “Don't be afraid of the cloud. There is technology out there that will definitely help you that has helped us, and Nasuni is one of them.”
