Tech consulting firm Infosys and software giant Microsoft to collaborate on enterprise adoption of generative AI and cloud services across multiple sectors

Indian technology consulting and services company Infosys has announced an expansion of its partnership with Microsoft, aimed at accelerating customer adoption of generative AI (Gen AI) and Microsoft Azure cloud services globally.

Generative AI, a subset of artificial intelligence that can create content, has been a focal point of the partnership since its inception. Infosys became an early adopter of GitHub Copilot, a code completion tool that uses AI to suggest code snippets, and today reports that over 18,000 of its developers have generated more than seven million lines of code using Copilot.

Enterprise AI adoption

Infosys has been selected as a strategic supplier to support cloud and AI workloads for Microsoft’s enterprise customers. The firm plans to integrate Microsoft’s Gen AI offerings into its own portfolio of solutions, with the goal of bringing new capabilities to market.

The collaboration will leverage Infosys Topaz and Infosys Cobalt, the company's AI and cloud suites, along with Infosys Aster, its AI-powered marketing suite. These tools, combined with Microsoft’s technologies, are intended to enhance customer experiences and drive global adoption of enterprise AI.

Anand Swaminathan, Executive Vice President and Global Industry Leader for Communications, Media and Technology at Infosys, said: "This collaboration addresses various business problems by delivering heightened value to clients through a customer-centric approach, providing scalability, agility and cost-efficiency across key sectors like Finance, Healthcare, Supply Chain and Telecommunications."

Sector-specific solutions

The expanded partnership will focus on several key industries. In financial services, Infosys’ Finacle banking platform will be combined with Microsoft's capabilities to help financial institutions operate more efficiently.

For healthcare, Infosys Helix, a platform for healthcare payers built on Microsoft Azure, will use AI and machine learning to optimise patient outcomes and streamline processes.

The supply chain sector will see the integration of Infosys' TradeEdge platform with Azure OpenAI service, Microsoft’s cloud-based AI offering.

In telecommunications, Microsoft’s Gen AI tools will be combined with Infosys Live Operations platforms to improve connectivity and customer experiences.

Infosys Energy Management Solution will work alongside Microsoft's sustainability initiatives to help customers reduce their carbon footprint.

Key facts
  • Infosys has over 18,000 developers using GitHub Copilot
  • Collaboration will focus on sectors including Finance, Healthcare, Supply Chain and Telecommunications
  • Solutions will be available on Azure Marketplace

For customer service, Infosys Cortex, an AI-driven customer engagement platform, will integrate Microsoft's generative AI and Copilot to provide specialised assistance to customer service staff.

Many of these solutions will be available on Azure Marketplace, allowing customers to use their Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment, a programme that incentivises customers to use more Azure services.

Responsible AI and skills development

Both companies are focusing on sharing best practices for responsible AI, an approach to AI development that considers ethical implications and potential societal impacts. Infosys is participating in The Microsoft Responsible AI Partner Initiative, contributing to the development of ethical AI guidelines through its own Responsible AI Office.

The partnership also includes efforts to develop skills within the workforce to support these new initiatives.

Nicole Dezen, Chief Partner Officer at Microsoft, said: “Our expanded collaboration with Infosys will transform industries, enhance business operations, elevate employee experiences, and deliver new value for customers. Together, we will harness the power of generative AI to deliver innovative solutions, drive AI adoption and enable unprecedented innovation for customers.”
