LG: How New Technology is Reshaping the Logistics Industry

LG Electronics is making strides into the smart logistics sector, enhancing its smart factory innovations.
The company has brokered a partnership deal with LogisValley, with plans to merge the skills of the two firms to create advanced logistics solutions.
This collaboration is set to deliver customised smart logistics solutions that cater to the rapidly changing demands of global customers.
How can technology improve the logistics sector?
LG plans to bring its expertise in robotics and digital twin technologies to the forefront of this partnership.
LogisValley, known as Korea’s largest integrated logistics firm, brings its prowess in logistics centre design, construction and operations to this alliance.
With more than 50 logistics centres in operation worldwide, LogisValley boasts a considerable portfolio of domestic and global clients.
Together, LG and LogisValley are aiming to expand their global influence by combining their capabilities across various endeavours.
The objective is to ensure that new logistics centres integrate LG’s smart factory technologies optimally, maximising operational efficiency.
To facilitate this, both companies are involved from the initial design phases, guaranteeing a refined synergy through their collaborated efforts.
"Our collaboration brings together LogisValley’s smart logistics platform and LG’s advanced factory technologies," says Lim Young-bin, Chair of LogisValley Group.
"Together, we will accelerate innovation across logistics and manufacturing and strengthen our global competitiveness.”
What LG brings to the partnership
Leveraging its vast portfolio of smart factory technology, LG plans to significantly enhance logistics efficiency.
The company introduces industrial robots, digital twin-based production system design and monitoring, alongside Gen AI-powered systems for process, safety and quality management.
These robots are set to automate laborious tasks like box picking, resulting in decreased errors and heightened efficiency in packaging and product sorting, thus modernising logistics operations.
LG’s equipment also aids in optimising space utilisation due to its proficiency in handling large volumes of manufacturing components.
Its experience in product categorisation and storage guides outbound processes efficiently.
Furthermore, LG’s digital twin technology enables the formation of virtual replicas of logistics environments to pinpoint the most effective workflows, benefiting from real-time monitoring capabilities.
Innovation in a changing market
Beyond customer-facing solutions, these smart logistics strategies are set to be applied within LG and LogisValley’s operations, allowing both companies to maintain competitiveness and showcase the effectiveness of their solutions in a dynamic market.
According to Fortune Business Insights, the global smart logistics market is projected to rise from US$88.1bn in 2025 to US$212.8bn by 2032, emphasising the need for continued innovation.
“This partnership is a major step forward in becoming a trusted partner in the fast-growing smart logistics industry," explains Jeong Dae-hwa, Head of LG’s Production-Engineering Research Institute.
"By leveraging the logistics expertise we’ve built through operating our Lighthouse smart factories, we aim to create real value for our customers.”
Independent of their smart logistics venture, LG and LogisValley are jointly working on a commercial project in Vietnam.
This endeavour involves developing a six-star hotel and shopping mall, where LG will supply various products and solutions, including its top-tier hotel TVs compatible with both Apple AirPlay and Google Cast.
