NTT Data has unveiled a patented solution that transforms legacy bots into autonomous agents while establishing an OpenAI Centre of Excellence

AI is well into its next phase of evolution, with autonomous AI agents gaining more and more traction in the world of enterprise.

However, organisations are now facing a challenge when it comes to integrating these new technologies into their legacy systems, especially while maintaining governance frameworks that ensure security and compliance.

The technical complexity of building effective agent ecosystems has created something of a market opportunity for established technology consultancies, though, as they step in to help clients bridge implementation gaps.

Now, NTT Data has introduced an enterprise-grade Smart AI Agent Ecosystem offering industry-specific solutions to transform business operations, including a patented plug-in solution that converts legacy automation bots into autonomous intelligent agents.

The company has deployed hundreds of Smart AI Agent instances to support complex processes and decision-making for clients in industries including healthcare, automotive manufacturing, finance, supply chain and marketing.

Smart AI Agent Ecosystem components include:
  • Managed agentic services
  • Solutions with embedded Smart AI Agents
  • Additional Smart AI Agents
  • Smart AI Agent platform
  • AI-ready infrastructure
  • Alliances
  • Responsible by design

Advancing enterprise technology

NTT Data’s Smart AI Agent Ecosystem includes managed agentic services to help clients build, adopt and scale solutions, no matter their industry.

A Smart AI Agent platform incorporates integrated tools and access to a marketplace with additional agents, with the infrastructure supporting both public and private cloud deployments with security governance built in.

Sector-wide AI applications

The rapid evolution of AI presents both immense opportunities and challenges for businesses – and NTT Data are demonstrating the former.

“At NTT Data, we have developed the comprehensive capabilities needed to guide our clients through these transformative times and empower them to shape their future with the power of AI,” says Yutaka Sasaki, President and CEO of NTT Data.

Healthcare
In healthcare, current Smart AI Agents classify, prioritise and summarise insurance appeals while making decisions about medical necessity – and NTT Data’s roadmap includes agents specialising in early interventions, medication compliance and fraud prevention.

Automotive Manufacturing
In automotive manufacturing, the agents analyse regulatory warning letters and citations – with development underway for root-cause analysis defects and corrective actions.

Finance
Financial institutions use these solutions for client validation requirements, including Know Your Customer processes and fraud detection capabilities that reduce transaction vulnerabilities.

Supply Chain and Logistics
Within the supply chain sector, operations benefit from AI that assists in selecting startup partners and integrating purchasing workflows as the technology monitors performance.

Marketing
Marketing applications involve systems that integrate with cloud platforms to analyse user profiles and build psychographic profiles for personalised advertising recommendations.

“Agentic AI is the next transformative wave that will impact every sector, far more than what we have seen with Gen AI so far,” says Abhijit Dubey, CEO of NTT Data.

“It’s not just about boosting creativity or productivity. It’s about unlocking new capabilities that can take initiative, make decisions and collaborate with humans in entirely new ways.”

NTT Data's partnerships

NTT Data also announced a strategic collaboration with OpenAI, including establishing an OpenAI Centre of Excellence to accelerate development of new Gen AI services powered by OpenAI APIs.

Partnerships with technology startups like Rafay Systems enable the delivery of scalable AI infrastructure as a service – simplifying Gen AI adoption and reducing operational complexity.

Additionally, collaboration with Kore.ai enhances NTT Data’s Digital Workplace Services, integrating large language models for improved service desk operations and personalised support.

Moreover, NTT Data’s Agentic AI Services for Hyperscaler AI Technologies offers cloud-managed services leveraging major cloud providers' AI technologies, facilitating multi-agent workflow orchestration across different platforms.

These solutions enable clients to operate across the agentic AI spectrum on cloud platforms including Microsoft Azure, AWS and Google Cloud Platform.

The patented solution transforms legacy bots into intelligent agents, addressing companies constrained by technological debt.

Millions of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) bots perform repetitive tasks globally; the new plug-in solution elevates them to intelligent agents while maintaining security and privacy controls.

“We’re not just watching this future unfold – we’re driving it,” says Abhijit Dubey, CEO of NTT Data.

“At NTT Data, we’re delivering clients real, measurable impact from AI solutions already and this patented, transformative plug-in is just one more proof point of what’s possible when innovation meets execution.”
