Cloud storage provider Wasabi Technologies has promoted Jon Howes to senior vice president of global sales from his previous role as vice president and general manager for EMEA, which he held since January 2023.

During his tenure managing the EMEA region, Howes established partnerships with IT infrastructure provider Retelit, technology distributor Bechtle, cybersecurity specialist Exclusive Networks and technology solutions distributor TD Synnex. Under his leadership, Wasabi's EMEA operations achieved 77% year-on-year growth in annual recurring revenue (ARR is the normalised annual revenue from subscription services).

Wasabi's cloud storage platform, which competes with services from Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, now serves over 90,000 customers across 100 countries through 14 storage regions. The company employs 400 staff globally.

"I am eager to continue building upon Wasabi's momentum on a global scale," says Howes. "The remarkable progress Wasabi has made since I joined is a testament to how much customers and partners value Wasabi's offerings."

Before joining Wasabi, Howes worked in EMEA sales leadership roles at networking equipment manufacturer Juniper Networks, network performance company Infovista, and enterprise software corporation Oracle.

Marty Falaro, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Wasabi, says: "Jon has built a very successful organisation in EMEA, and we see the value in his exceptional leadership skills and his understanding of Wasabi's business as instrumental for our global sales initiatives."

Kevin Dunn, who has managed Wasabi's operations in the UK, Ireland, Nordics and South Africa since May 2022, will succeed Howes in leading the EMEA region.

In his new position, Howes will oversee Wasabi's worldwide sales strategy as the company continues to expand its cloud storage infrastructure and partner ecosystem.
