Technology Magazine looks at the latest executive appointments and departures driving innovation and strategic success

Job From: EVP - Head of BFSI and Retail North America, SoftServe

Job To: US CEO, GFT

GFT, the global digital transformation company, has appointed Rishi Chohan as its U.S. CEO as part of its strategy to expand its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.

Rishi succeeds Marco Santos, the former CEO of the Americas who assumed the role of GFT's Global CEO in January 2025. Rishi brings more than 20 years of experience in the US software and services industries, having previously worked at Ernst & Young and SoftServe, a digital services company.

The appointment comes as GFT executes a five-year strategy to transform itself through AI implementation while developing vertical-specific AI solutions for its clients. The company notes that while 92% of organisations plan to increase their investments in AI – computer systems that can perform tasks requiring human intelligence – only 19% have managed to increase their revenue by more than 5% from these investments. GFT attributes this to the challenge of transforming legacy infrastructure to support new AI applications.

Rishi will lead this initiative in the United States, focusing on strengthening GFT's relationships with US banks, financial institutions and manufacturers. He will also expand the company’s technology partnerships to complement its evolving offerings.

“AI is creating an opportunity for companies to fast-forward to a state that doesn't exist today, defined by limitless potential to develop new products and services, acquire new customers and generate new revenue streams,” says Rishi. "To capitalise on AI's potential, companies need to innovate with forward looking partners who can transform their digital infrastructures quickly. I look forward to working alongside Marco and the entire GFT team to shape this reality in the U.S."

In his new role, Rishi will work closely with Chris Ortiz, GFT's Regional Head who has led the company's expansion in the Asia-Pacific and UK markets.

"GFT is where it is today because of our commitment to delivering on the long-term digital strategies of global banks, financial institutions and manufacturers. As AI has begun to play a larger role in those goals, we're ensuring that GFT is in the best possible position to execute on them," says Chris. "Rishi's appointment puts us in that position in the U.S."

Marco outlines his vision for the company, stating: "It's my personal vision for GFT that over the next five years, all of our products and services will be delivered with AI in their hearts, completely AI-Centric. Implementing such a vision requires a team that has the passion, excitement and expertise to carry it forward. I'm fully confident in Rishi's abilities to grow and lead that team in the U.S. market."

GFT has been guiding clients through infrastructural transformations for more than 35 years. Over the past year, the company has invested in expanding its AI expertise globally, including enhancing partnerships with NVIDIA, a leading computing technology company, Amazon Web Services, a cloud computing platform, and Google Cloud, while continuing to develop its AI-powered software development tool, GFT AI Impact.
