Snowflake: Building a Solid Foundation for AI’s Future

"Everybody's talking about Gen AI and wants to get on board,” Corey concludes. “But you really need to take a step back and make sure that you have the right data foundations to really move forward."
Snowflake Corey Cummins explains why the company is positioned to help enterprises grab the reins of the Gen AI revolution across their operations

In the era of big data and AI where enterprises race to integrate the technologies into their operations, a daunting challenge looms: how to manage the data while simultaneously adopting the benefits AI technologies can offer it.

Amid this complex landscape, Snowflake’s platform has emerged as a critical enabler for making AI within businesses relatively easy, trusted, and efficient. Although its name sounds gentle, its cloud solutions are robust.

Helping build that is Corey Cummins, Director of UK&I Partners at Snowflake. “My role as head of UK Alliances is really looking at how our partner ecosystem helps customers adopt and drive a Data and AI strategy, with Snowflake at the core of this vision,” explains Corey.

Snowflake’s cloud solutions

Snowflake has long helped customers make the most of their data. Today, this means focusing on helping enterprises adopt Gen AI, which Corey notes has huge promise but is not without challenges. Most AI projects never make it to production due to the challenges of “security, governance and costs”.

Snowflake’s platform addresses these pain points by providing a solid data foundation with built-in governance.

Its AI and ML capabilities are “easy, efficient and  trusted”. The AI Data Cloud integrates various capabilities, governance, cross-cloud data collaboration, Enterprise AI, and Snowflake ML for machine learning tools and app development capabilities.

Snowflake is able to do this through its AI Data Cloud, which integrates various AI capabilities into its platform. This includes Horizon for role-based access controls and data lineage, Cortex AI for managed AI services and Snowflake ML for machine learning tools and app development capabilities. The goal is to enable enterprises to implement Gen AI securely and efficiently at an enterprise level.

Partnerships building the platform

Partnerships play a crucial role in Snowflake's strategy. All have helped Snowflake grow in various ways, from building pipeline and strategy development to delivery and implementation, and even fending off competition.

One key partnership Corey highlights is with Kubrick. “We have a great partnership with them,” he says. “They hire some of the best talent in the market, thus creating a new generation of professionals trained in the most sought after data skill sets and technologies. These teams go on to drive organisations’ digital transformation and help them test, implement, and adopt next-generation technology.”

Such partnerships are crucial for Snowflake, given the complexity of its product and its goal to reach revenues of US$10bn by 2029.

A secure foundation for AI’s future

As the data and AI landscape continues to evolve, Snowflake's integrated approach to data management, AI capabilities and strategic partnerships positions it at the forefront of the industry, focusing on best-in-class AI go-to-market strategy, helping  customers transition from on-premise to cloud and further to using Gen AI for growth and scaling.

This comes from a deep understanding of  the wants of the market and its customers. "The core message for us at Snowflake," Corey concludes, "is we know that everybody's talking about Gen AI and everybody wants to get on board this kind of movement that's happening, but you really need to take a step back and you need to make sure that you have the right data foundations to really move forward."

Under the leadership of new CEO Sridhar Ramaswamy, the company is focusing on ensuring its AI go-to-market strategy is best in class, helping customers go from on-premise to in cloud, and from in the cloud to using things like Gen AI to help them grow.

This encapsulates Snowflake’s approach: providing the secure, efficient  foundation necessary for enterprises  to fully leverage AI’s potential.
