Dynatrace announces extended capabilities for the observability of customers’ Gen AI initiatives
Dynatrace's AI observability platform revolutionises enterprise LLM management by offering assets including analytics, security features & governance tools

The deployment of Gen AI in enterprise environments has created new challenges for technology operations teams worldwide.

As organisations integrate AI systems into critical business processes, they require tools to monitor performance, manage costs and ensure regulatory compliance – which has sparked demand for specialised software that can track AI operations with the same rigour applied to traditional IT systems.

The complexity of AI monitoring stems from the unique characteristics of LLMs. These models can produce unexpected outputs, consume significant computing resources and require continuous performance tracking.

In response to these market requirements, Dynatrace has expanded its AI monitoring capabilities to help organisations track their Gen AI systems.

Dynatrace platform expands LLM analytics

The company has added capabilities to monitor LLMs as the system tracks performance metrics including response times and usage patterns while forecasting costs through the company's Davis AI analysis engine.

Security features include detection systems for model hallucinations – when AI systems generate false or misleading information – and the platform also identifies potential misuse through malicious inputs and monitors for data privacy breaches.

The system provides visibility across multiple connected AI models working together in what are known as retrieval augmented generation pipelines – systems that combine AI models with additional data sources to improve accuracy.

The platform also incorporates predictive capabilities to detect changes in usage patterns which enables organisations to forecast cost changes associated with AI model usage and identify opportunities for system optimisation.

Enterprise adoption drives AI governance requirements

For payment technology provider FreedomPay, AI monitoring capabilities support merchant services deployment.

President at FreedomPay, Chris Kronenthal

"An increasing number of enterprise and mid-market merchants are leveraging AI  to empower their end-to-end payment strategy," says Chris Kronenthal, President at FreedomPay.

"Dynatrace enables FreedomPay to adopt advanced analytics and intelligence to solve complex data problems for our customers."

The platform also maintains audit records of AI system activity through the company's Grail data processing technology that provides documentation of model training data and system behaviour for compliance requirements.

Technology leaders address AI implementation challenges

Stephen Elliot, IDC Group Vice President of Infrastructure & Operations and Cloud Operations, emphasises the importance of AI monitoring.

He says: "Data and LLM observability are essential requirements for building and deploying reliable, trustworthy and cost-effective AI solutions.

“These capabilities provide the critical insights needed to ensure that models perform as expected, meet business objectives, and deliver outcomes to the organisation.

“Technology leaders benefit from monitoring their data quality in real time. They get visibility and detection of anomalies, inconsistencies and drifts to help ensure that the data used to train and run the models is accurate, complete and representative of the real world."

Market adoption accelerates AI monitoring demand

The platform developments reflect increasing enterprise requirements for AI governance frameworks as the system enables organisations to track inputs and outputs without data sampling, providing complete audit trails for monitoring and compliance documentation.

Chief Technology Strategist at Dynatrace, Alois Reitbauer

Organisations are moving AI applications into production environments at increasing rates, according to Alois Reitbauer, Chief Technology Strategist at Dynatrace: "AI Observability is key for ROI, governance and explainability.

"Dynatrace delivers AI-powered observability with real-time insights which enables data and systems to work together effortlessly."
