Verizon Business and Accenture partner to tackle emerging cybersecurity threats
Verizon and Accenture aim to boost enterprise resilience against escalating threats with expanded portfolio of security management services

The cybersecurity market has been forced to evolve in recent years as organisations grapple with increasingly sophisticated threat vectors.

As digital risks escalate globally, enterprises face mounting pressure to strengthen their security posture while navigating persistent challenges including talent shortages, fragmented technology stacks and the expanding attack surface created by cloud migration and remote work.

These evolving threats have prompted major industry players to forge strategic alliances that combine network infrastructure expertise with specialised security capabilities.

The latest such collaboration comes from Verizon Business and Accenture – seeking to address these enterprise security challenges through integrated service offerings.

The partnership will particularly focus on developing cybersecurity solutions for organisations across all sectors.

The collaboration, unveiled in New York, will integrate Accenture's security expertise with Verizon's network infrastructure to deliver services designed to help companies identify vulnerabilities and improve their response capabilities to cyber incidents.

Verizon and Accenture partnership targets critical security domains

The partnership will initially concentrate on three primary areas of security risk:

Identity and Access Management (IAM) – which controls who can access specific digital resources within an organisation.

Managed Extended Detection and Response (MxDR) – a service that provides continuous monitoring of networks for potential threats.

Cyber risk services – which help organisations assess their security posture.

These offerings will be provided on an as-a-service basis, meaning clients can subscribe to them rather than building internal capabilities and will be integrated with Verizon's existing network solutions.

CEO of Verizon Business, Kyle Malady

Kyle Malady, Chief Executive Officer of Verizon Business, says: “Cybersecurity is a top priority for businesses. With our decades of experience in this area, Verizon is committed to offering solutions that protect our customers and keep their data secure.

“We are seeing evolving demands from our customers and we are building out new cybersecurity capabilities. Partnering with Accenture will be key to scaling our capabilities and delivering new and innovative products to address our customers' most pressing needs.”

The partnership will further extend beyond the initial phase of service delivery to include joint innovation efforts aimed at developing new security solutions – allowing the companies to address current security gaps while building capabilities for future threats.

This means that for enterprises struggling to maintain security operations amid increasing attack sophistication, the partnership promises a more comprehensive approach by combining Verizon's network visibility with Accenture's security operations expertise.

CEO of Americas at Accenture, Manish Sharma

“The security landscape is growing more complex, driven by emerging technologies, geopolitical uncertainty, global data and cyber security regulations, supply chain risks and a cyber skills gap,” says Manish Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of Americas at Accenture.

“Businesses must prioritise resilience to stay ahead of evolving threats.

“Our solutions, coupled with Verizon’s core network services and deep security expertise will enable businesses to better protect their data and operations against cyber-attacks.”

Key aims from Verizon and Accenture:
  • Help customers across all industries and businesses of all sizes become cyber resilient
  • New advanced services will help companies identify security vulnerabilities, detect, respond to and recover from cyberattacks and will be integrated with Verizon’s portfolio of network solutions
  • Focus on the most pressing areas of risk: IAM, MxDR and cyber risk services

Industry analysts have also viewed the partnership as strategically significant, as Craig Robinson, IDC Research Vice President for Security & Trust, says: “Verizon's targeted emphasis on security services offerings, combined with its collaboration with Accenture, enables both companies to effectively address the increasing demand for comprehensive cybersecurity solutions.
