Xerox Embraces Cloud Transformation with SAP Partnership
Xerox's legacy is rooted in innovation, having pioneered technologies that transformed office productivity for more than half a century. However, the digital revolution has presented unprecedented challenges to the company’s core business model. With the rise of paperless offices, cloud computing and remote work, Xerox has recognised the urgent need to pivot and redefine its role in the modern workplace.
In a significant move in its digital transformation, now the company has announced a strategic partnership with SAP to overhaul its enterprise architecture. This collaboration, centring on the adoption of RISE with SAP, marks a key step in Xerox’s multi-year Reinvention initiative, aimed at revitalising its core print business while expanding into digital and IT services.
A managed cloud service that combines cloud software, infrastructure and services to deliver a clear path to the cloud for businesses, RISE with SAP allows customers to take advantage of powerful cloud-based business management software with embedded intelligence, real-time insights and advanced technologies.
With SAP’s S/4HANA Cloud offering – named a Leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Cloud ERP – at its core, RISE with SAP aims to unlock continued innovation and transformation for customers by modernising their business-critical processes and systems in a collaborative and measurable way.
The decision to migrate to the cloud through RISE with SAP underscores Xerox’s commitment to streamlining operations and enhancing efficiency across its global footprint. By implementing SAP S/4HANA Cloud, the company anticipates substantial reductions in IT costs, alongside the standardisation of processes worldwide. This move aligns with Xerox's strategy to establish a global business services organisation and simplify its application landscape, paving the way for innovative business models that respond to evolving industry demands.
“By shifting to the cloud with SAP solutions, Xerox is streamlining operations, becoming easier to do business with and within, and positioning itself to be a services-led, software-enabled organisation,” comments Louie Pastor, Executive Vice President and Chief Transformation and Administrative Officer at Xerox. “SAP is a strategic partner helping us meet the evolving needs of our clients and partners as we increase our speed, agility and cost-effectiveness while providing the entire enterprise with modern tools and improved support.”
How Xerox is using SAP solutions
Beyond cloud migration, the partnership between SAP and Xerox encompasses a suite of cutting-edge SAP solutions. Xerox has opted for SAP Business AI, the SAP Customer Experience portfolio, SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) and supply management solutions, with an ultimate aim to create an integrated platform across various business functions, including finance, supply chain and sales.
- Reduce IT costs
- Standardise global processes
- Simplify application landscape
- Enhance supply chain visibility
- Improve data-driven decision-making
One of the key advantages of this integrated system is the ability to gain real-time insights with live drill-downs to operational transactions. This enhanced visibility is expected to substantially boost Xerox’s agility, enabling the company to introduce new offerings more efficiently while simultaneously driving automation, simplification and cost reduction throughout its operations.
The implementation of SAP Business AI represents a forward-thinking move by Xerox. Initially, the technology will be deployed for business integrity screening, with plans to explore additional use cases in the coming months. This strategic application of AI underscores Xerox's commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to drive business growth and operational excellence.
Xerox also plans to utilise SAP’s digital supply chain solutions to optimise its global operations. With a presence in nearly 145 countries, improving inventory visibility and extending analytics across the business is crucial for Xerox. These solutions are expected to enhance data-driven decision-making and mitigate supply chain risks, a critical factor in today’s volatile global market.
“We are proud that Xerox has decided to leverage the power of SAP's solutions to drive its reinvention,” says Dominik Asam, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Board member of SAP SE. “Through its selection of RISE with SAP, Xerox will implement new business models to enhance client experiences and begin integrating SAP Business AI to drive its business forward. This will enable the company to build on its strong history and introduce a new era of workplace innovation for its clients.”
