Equinix acquires 11th Netherlands data centre
Redwood, California-based data centre giant Equinix has completed the acquisition of its 11th International Business Exchange (IBX) facility in the Netherlands, purchasing Switch Datacenters’ AMS1 for US$34mn.
The data centre, based in Amsterdam, will be renamed Equinix AM11 International Business Exchange data centre and is situated near the firm’s existing campus in southeast Amsterdam.
In its press release, Equinix said the purchase will enable it to further cater to rapidly growing demand in European markets for digital infrastructure connectivity and added that the site offers the potential for expansion into an adjacent building.
Eugene Bergen, President of EMEA at Equinix, said in the press release:

Equinix’s data centres in the Netherlands serve as hubs for over 1,125 companies, with its 11 Dutch facilities being part of its 200-strong IBX network across 52 markets worldwide.
