HPE's latest cloud updates to Aruba Central enhance network management flexibility to meet increased data sovereignty needs

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) continues to innovate in the enterprise technology solutions space with the enhancement of its HPE Aruba Networking Central platform.

This expansion includes new deployment options aimed at satisfying the growing demand for data sovereignty and robust local network control among its clientele.

The introduction of a virtual private cloud (VPC) environment caters to organisations that need the agility of cloud solutions coupled with specific data security protocols.

This is complemented by an on-premises option designed to operate independently of cloud infrastructure, which is particularly critical for areas requiring uninterrupted service.

These updates mark a strategic move by HPE to position itself as the sole network management provider offering cloud-native AI operations across four distinct deployment models: dedicated customer VPC, on-premises, public Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and network-as-a-service (NaaS).

“Organisations are increasingly prioritising data sovereignty, requiring regional and local presence for mission-critical IT solutions,” says Phil Mottram, Executive Vice President and General Manager of HPE Aruba Networking.

“With these innovations, HPE now uniquely addresses pressing enterprise challenges for corporate, nonprofit, and government entities with network management deployment flexibility.”

Confronting the cloud regulatory landscape

HPE has specifically targeted organisations bound by stringent regulatory requirements with the expansion of the Aruba Networking Central On-Premises for Government.
This offering integrates FIPS 140-2 certified server hardware, ensuring compliance with government-level security needs.

Additionally, both public cloud and VPC options leverage the HPE GreenLake infrastructure, ensuring a localised cloud presence across multiple global regions. This is essential for adherence to data protection mandates such as GDPR.

The platform continues to innovate with its always-on automated network AI operations (AIOps). This system persistently monitors network activities across both wired and wireless infrastructures.
It includes AI "assistants" acting as network architects, which collect diagnostic data and offer real-time performance optimisation suggestions.

Specific new features and benefits in HPE Aruba Networking Central include:
  • Four distinct deployment options
  • Always-on, AI-powered Automated Network Assistant
  • Increased global points of presence (PoP) with dedicated instances in the US, Canada, the EU, the Middle East and Africa
  • Device telemetry data lake of more than 5.2 million devices managed and over 2 billion network devices served
  • Broadening availability of third-party observability
  • End-to-End telemetry to boost Microsoft Teams Quality of Experience
  • Extensive Integration APIs

With the ability to predict configuration errors, these AI systems help preempt operational disruptions and extend network capacities while closing security loopholes.

HPE's data pool and AI capabilities

HPE has leveraged its AI models extensively, training them on a vast telemetry data lake that includes information from more than 5.2 million managed devices.

The data pool expands to cover more than two billion network devices, a testament to HPE's robust data-driven AI strategy and reflecting a substantial year-on-year growth in network device management coverage.

Further enhancements to the Aruba Networking Central platform include improved network observability and telemetry abilities that support heterogeneous network environments and critical IT applications.

A partnership with OpsRamp, an HPE acquisition, provides a one-year subscription for monitoring third-party devices and vendors such as Cisco, Arista and Juniper Networks, increasing the platform's flexibility and scope.

As a cloud-native platform, HPE Aruba Networking Central can simplify data centre network management by unifying infrastructure management, offering AI-driven analytics and providing features like intelligent alerts and streamlined deployments.

The platform can protect against cyberattacks and confront demanding AI workloads with secure, AI-ready data centre switching.

Enhancing connectivity with versatile options

The platform also features seamless integration with Microsoft Teams, aimed at enhancing real-time troubleshooting and service quality improvements for voice and video conferencing.

Since its launch in 2014, Aruba Networking Central has offered comprehensive functionalities for configuring, managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting networks across varied infrastructures, including wired, wireless, and IoT setups.

Available as an annual subscription, the platform offers a tiered licensing model via HPE’s channel partners, including managed service providers (MSPs).

Phil says: “Combined with our continued innovation across AI, security and connectivity, HPE Aruba Networking Central continues to offer a powerful network management application, helping organisations meet their security, privacy and control requirements.”
