Microsoft and BT announce new strategic partnership
The new strategic partnership between technology companies Microsoft and BT will drive innovation and growth in the telecoms sector. This partnership looks to shape the future of voice calling.
As part of the new agreement, BT’s global managed voice services will transition to the cloud. The unique partnership also paves the way for the development of revolutionary new cloud-based products and services for BT’s voice customers and the wider telecoms sector.

Combining expertise to shape the future of voice-calling
Under the partnership Operator Connect will help BT create new business models and revenue streams as it innovates, creates and grows. Operator Connect currently supports telecoms operators adding their calling plans to Microsoft Teams.

BT will offer its managed voice services directly through Microsoft Teams. This will enhance communication experiences for customers and create new opportunities for growth. The number of users of BT’s managed Microsoft Teams collaboration service has almost doubled during the past 12 months.
With this new partnership, Microsoft’s focus on placing cutting-edge security at the heart of business will be combined with BT’s own expertise. Furthermore, BT’s extensive threat intelligence gained from protecting one of the world’s largest global networks will be utilised to enable and protect modern, collaborative workspaces
