Matt Garman has been at the helm of AWS since June 2024. With nearly two decades of experience at Amazon, Garman has played a pivotal role in shaping AWS's trajectory, leading to its current status as a dominant force in cloud computing.

Under his leadership, AWS continues to innovate, particularly in AI and cloud infrastructure.

Matt’s career journey

Matt’s journey with Amazon began in 2005 when he joined as an MBA intern during the nascent stages of AWS.

Impressed by the potential of cloud computing, he accepted a full-time position in 2006 as one of AWS's first product managers. In this role, Matt was instrumental in launching core services, including Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), which has become foundational to AWS's offerings.

Over the years, he ascended through various leadership positions, overseeing product management, engineering and operations for compute and storage services.

Before becoming CEO, Matt served as Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Global Services, where he was responsible for driving customer engagement and expanding AWS's global footprint.
