Hitachi Vantara wins Sustainable Technology Award
Hitachi Vantara wins Sustainable Technology Award at the Global Tech & AI Awards 2025 for advancing sustainable data infrastructure

Congratulations to Hitachi Vantara, the winners of this year’s Sustainable Technology Award.

On behalf of Hitachi Ventara, I first of all wanted to say thank you to the Global Tech & AI Awards and organisers for this tremendous honour. We're truly honoured to be recognised in the sustainable technology category. It's an area that speaks to the heart of our mission. In fact, we're just humbled to be among such peers who represent the best of innovation together with a powerful mission.

We often say that our purpose as a company is not just in the profit that we bring to stakeholders and shareholders, but also to the planet. It's not just about the bottom line, but it's about the double bottom line, where we add social good.

Hitachi Vantara has emerged as a sustainability leader in data infrastructure, embedding environmental responsibility into its operations, product design and workplace culture.

Its approach to sustainable technology is both strategic and systemic, reflecting a commitment to become carbon neutral in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by FY2030.

A standout example is the company’s Virtual Storage Platform One Block, which earned ENERGY STAR certification and delivers a 30% to 40% reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to traditional systems.

With features like dynamic CPU eco-modes and automated compression switching, the appliance is designed to reduce energy consumption without compromising performance.

This technology underpins real-world transformation, as seen in its deployment by Italian pasta manufacturer La Molisana to modernise infrastructure sustainably.

In its facilities, Hitachi Vantara prioritises green design.

All four distribution centres are ISO 14001 certified, with the Netherlands site also achieving BREEAM Very Good status.

On-site solar panels now generate a third of the centre’s annual electricity, while geothermal heating, LED lighting and zero gas usage demonstrate resource-efficient operations.

The company’s ‘eternity design’ concept ensures system longevity and minimises waste, while its patented Modern Data Assurance technology allows customers to reuse data drives with newer systems — eliminating the emissions typically associated with data migrations.

Internally, employee-led initiatives like the Earth Alliance ERG promote sustainability awareness and education, while volunteer time off and Global Giving Week embed social impact into the company’s culture.

By combining product innovation, facility-level efficiencies and employee-driven environmental action, Hitachi Vantara sets a high bar for sustainable technology in enterprise IT.

Simon Ninan, Senior Vice President, Business Strategy at Hitachi Vantara

Sustainability is something that's been in our DNA for decades. It's embedded in our products, our technology, our operations and our culture, from reducing energy consumption through intelligent data solutions to solving the growing crisis of data centre energy needs.

We are driven by the belief that the best of our work and our innovation should serve people and the planet. So, thank you again for this award. It reinforces the belief that doing good and doing well can and should go hand in hand. We're excited to keep pushing the boundaries of sustainable innovation.

Prismm

Prismm, previously known as Allseated, is a San Francisco-based software-as-a-service company focused on immersive spatial design and event planning.

Established in 2011, the company allows venues, event planners and vendors to construct digital twins of physical spaces in 3D, enabling real-time collaboration and detailed visualisation.

Its platform supports photorealistic virtual walkthroughs, interactive floorplans and multimedia-rich design tools that streamline the event planning process.

By allowing teams and clients to visualise and refine layouts remotely, Prismm reduces the need for site visits while improving precision and creativity in design.

The solution is used by more than 5,000 global brands seeking to deliver more efficient, interactive and visually compelling events.

In April 2025, Prismm was acquired by event technology giant Cvent.

The move aims to integrate Prismm’s spatial design capabilities into Cvent’s wider event management suite, creating a comprehensive solution that spans the full event lifecycle from concept to execution.

It is amazing to see the meaningful impact that these companies, projects and individuals are having on the world, furthering technological innovation.

Everyone at Tech & AI LIVE and Technology Magazine would like to extend their congratulations to our winners for 2025 and thank you for your dedication to a more connected, inclusive and innovative future.

atNorth

atNorth is a Nordic data centre provider building a new standard for sustainability in digital infrastructure.

Operating facilities across Iceland, Sweden, Finland and Denmark, the company is known for harnessing local renewable energy and cool climates to deliver highly efficient colocation and high-performance computing services.

Central to atNorth’s strategy is its commitment to circular economy principles.

In Espoo, Finland, heat from its FIN02 data centre is recycled to warm a nearby retail store, reducing emissions and improving energy utilisation.

In Iceland, waste heat is channelled to greenhouse farming, enabling local food production in a cold climate and supporting food security goals.

These projects illustrate atNorth’s vision of data centres as integrated parts of their communities — facilities that not only handle intensive compute workloads but also contribute to local sustainability.

By aligning digital growth with environmental responsibility, atNorth is positioning itself at the forefront of climate-conscious data centre development.
