He remains committed to ensuring data centres act as a catalyst for the green transition and that sustainability and efficiency remain at the forefront of future infrastructure systems.
Mark is taking part in Tech & AI LIVE at 155 Bishopsgate next month as one of the panellists on the Sustainable Technology Forum.
Here, he speaks to Technology Magazine ahead of the event.
What inspired you to get involved in the event?
Tech and AI LIVE has quickly established itself as a key industry event. Attending provides us with the chance to discuss and engage with our peers on the accelerating market shift driven by the surging demand for AI and high-density computing.
As these technologies continue to reshape the future of digital infrastructure, it’s critical that the industry aligns on the security, sustainability and energy demands of AI.
What makes this event particularly interesting is its ability to convene influential members of the AI ecosystem.
For Schneider Electric, the event offers a powerful platform to both engage with the market and share our perspective on why a sustainable and collaborative approach is essential to support the next wave of AI innovation.
Provide an overview of what your panel will focus on.
During the event, I’ll be speaking on the Sustainable Technology Forum, which will examine the intersection of technology and sustainability.
During this session, we’ll discuss how innovations such as green computing, renewable energy adoption and circular IT strategies can help organisations reduce their environmental impact and pave the way for a sustainable digital future, enabled via AI and high-density infrastructure.
What do you hope to achieve through the event?
By attending, we hope to engage with prominent, senior decision-makers across the AI ecosystem and foster meaningful relationships around the critical role of collaboration in meeting the sustainability challenges posed by AI.
As computing demands — and associated electricity consumption — continue to surge, it's essential to emphasise the importance of energy efficiency as a foundational pillar of AI infrastructure.
By working together, we can help reduce the technology's environmental impact.
What emerging trends do you believe will shape the future of technology and AI over the next decade?
First and foremost, one of the most significant trends will be the co-development of large-scale AI infrastructure in tandem with renewable energy systems.
As AI continues to evolve, and the UK doubles down on its economic and technological ambitions via the AI Opportunities Action Plan, addressing the challenges of power availability and infrastructure will be critical to enable the responsible and sustainable growth of the technology.
On the application side, we expect to see rapid advancement in both Agentic AI and Gen AI technologies.
I believe these capabilities will reshape how we interact with technologies and how people will benefit from AI in their daily lives.
