Karl Swinford
Vice President of Logistics, WIN Waste Innovations
Karl Swinford is Vice President of Logistics at WIN Waste Innovations, North America’s leader in sustainable waste management. In this role, Karl leads the WIN Waste rail logistics team and oversees the largest waste-by-rail network on the continent, with more than 40,000 annual shipments and a fleet of 3,000+ private rail cars cycling on any given day. He leads his team in the development and execution of the rail logistics strategy, business growth objectives, manages rail logistics budget, forecasting and contract negotiations with carriers and vendors.
Karl has worked in the rail logistics space for 15 years and joined WIN Waste in 2020. He started his career with BNSF Railway, where he spent eight years rising through numerous operational management roles. In 2016, he transitioned to the shipper side, joining Schlumberger in Houston, Texas, as the North American Rail Transportation Manager, where he oversaw all aspects of the rail operations business for Schlumberger’s shared services supply chain organization. Karl was BNSF’s Railway Employee of the Year in 2011 and 2012. He received the “Performed by Schlumberger” Award in 2019 for demonstrated success in improved product delivery.
Karl is an MBA candidate (’24) at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. He holds a degree in business administration from Southwest Baptist University.
Karl and his wife Karissa have four children.
