Sridhar Muppidi on his collaboration with Cognizant and the key drivers of his developing career in cybersecurity for IBM, a leading technology provider

Sridhar Muppidi, an esteemed cybersecurity visionary, currently serves as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for IBM's security division. With a career spanning over three decades, Sridhar has been a driving force behind the technical direction, architecture and innovation within IBM's security products and services.

From securing global events like the World Cup in Qatar to collaborating with prestigious clients worldwide, Sridhar's role is marked by a relentless pursuit of scalable solutions tailored to meet the evolving needs of diverse stakeholders.

His deep-seated passion for cybersecurity ignited early in his career, as he deliberately chose to specialise in the field during his master's and PhD studies. Despite encountering scepticism due to prevailing job market trends, Sridhar remained steadfast in his commitment, carving a niche for himself as a cybersecurity expert.

What fuels Sridhar's enduring dedication to cybersecurity is the perpetual evolution of the threat landscape. For him, the dynamic nature of the industry, characterised by a constant game of cat and mouse between attackers and defenders, presents an exhilarating challenge that keeps him continuously engaged.

Embracing change as an opportunity for growth and learning, Sridhar epitomises the essence of a lifelong learner within the cybersecurity domain.

Among his proudest achievements is his prolific contribution to cybersecurity innovation, with close to 75 patents to his name. These patents culminated in groundbreaking products like risk-based authentication, aimed at enhancing consumer transactions while minimising authentication friction.

However, Sridhar's vision extends beyond individual achievements to a broader ambition of fostering collaboration within the cybersecurity community.

Recognising the imperative for collective action in combating cyber threats, Sridhar has championed initiatives such as the Open Cyber Security Alliance and the Open Cyber Security Schema Framework.

Through these efforts, he seeks to dismantle barriers that hinder collaboration among cybersecurity stakeholders, advocating for an open and interoperable ecosystem that empowers defenders to act collectively against adversaries.

Driven by a profound sense of purpose and a commitment to driving positive change in the cybersecurity landscape, Sridhar Muppidi stands as a beacon of innovation and collaboration, shaping the future of cybersecurity for generations to come.
