Lisa O’Connor is a visionary leader in Security whose strength is building and inspiring diverse high-performance teams. Her passion for the mission of cyber defense inspires her teams and her customers to build effective defenses, security and risk management programs. Through her work, she protects the Global 2000 companies, critical infrastructures and advances the industry with her focus on cyber innovation. She has worked directly for the Risk Committee of a top 30 FS institution in the Fortune 500. She has an ability to create meaningful connections and fosters an environment where people can be their best professionally and personally.
Currently, Lisa is the Global Leader of Security Research and Development, leading two Labs in Washington DC and Herzliya, Israel. Her role is to ideate, develop and co-innovate with our clients. Key to her success, she looks over the horizon at the global start-up ecosystem, prospecting cyber capabilities and strategic investments for future co-innovation and go to market strategy. Through applied research, she improves cyber defense strategies and capabilities for Accenture and our clients that is differentiated in the industry. She is the primary author of the Accenture Security Vision. Current research areas include Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Digital Twins, Knowledge Graph analytics, Quantum security, Intelligent Data Nodes and IOT Security.
Lisa has been with Accenture for eight years, joining the Lab after leading security consulting Financial Services North America. She has over 32 years of information security experience, with over 16 years focused in financial services and over seven years as an active member of the Financial Services Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC) and the Financial Services Sector Coordinating Council. Her experience includes five years at Fannie Mae leading Information Security Governance, seven years leading national security consulting practices at Predictive Systems (INS), Guardent (Verisign), four years PriceWaterhouseCoopers and nine years the National Security Agency. Her work at the National Security Agency included assignments to the White House Communications Agency and to the Surveys and Investigations Staff of the House Appropriations Committee.
Lisa holds a Masters of Engineering Administration from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science of Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University. Lisa has been both a coach and mentor in Accenture’s Leadership Development Program, guiding high potential individuals and teams through the annual development program. She has served as Accenture’s lead to the Executive Women’s Forum. She is an advocate for women’s health through her past Board of Directors service for HERA Foundation. She is an avid rock climber.
