The US Department of Energy is investing US$1bn in two new AI supercomputers – Discovery and Lux – at Oak Ridge National Laboratory to strengthen America’s leadership in science and technology.

Built with AMD and HPE technologies, Discovery will extend exascale computing with next-generation AMD EPYC CPUs and Instinct GPUs, driving breakthroughs in energy, medicine and aerospace.

Lux, on the other hand, leverages OCI and will be an AI factory for science and national security.
