Startups often face a number of challenges when it comes to selecting the right CRM for their businesses. They need to select tools that are easy to integrate delivering value from day zero, offer flexible solutions and embrace AI and automation across all facets of product:

1. Integration ease

Startups don’t have endless resources or time to implement tools with solutions being required in days rather than weeks or months with enterprise solutions typically being slower and more challenging to integrate for more agile businesses.

2. Deliver value with flexibility

With ever changing business models, sales pipelines and team structures in early stage businesses a CRM must be able to move with these changes. A CRM therefore, must offer customisation and adaptability without requiring a designated technical resource.

3. AI-Native capabilities

Startups embrace AI to work more efficiently, economically and to complete complex workflows. Any tooling that’s onboarded needs to be equally AI-native for these businesses with CRMs that don’t have these capabilities being less efficient and becoming obsolete for small businesses in the near future.

With these key areas for success in mind, four options for startups include:

Attio

Attio is the biggest of the new era of AI-native CRMs entering the market. Recently announcing its US$52m Series B funding round led by Google Ventures, Attio is built with AI at its core and offers a flexible data model that has been compared to Notion, allowing startups to shape the platform to their exact needs.

Attio offers tools for both sales teams, such as instant sync on signup which handles millions of records in real time, as well as GTM builders and engineers. Attio’s programmable SDK allows custom code to be run inside the platform which opens up a vast amount of possibilities for unique app development. Attio offers a free trial and four pricing tiers ranging from a free version to tiers between $29 and $119/month. With 5000 paying customers including Modal and Lovable, Attio offers a strong CRM option for startups to grow alongside over the coming years.

Pipedrive

A long-standing player, Pipedrive serves over 100,000 businesses with its strong sales approach. The platform has a Kanban style interface that allows for drag-and-drop deal management, while automations support activity based selling. Pipedrive has been slowly launching AI features, most recently centered on “Pipedrive Pulse” (beta) that is used to forecast and optimise sales pipelines.

Starting at $14/user per month and offering 500+ integrations, Pipedrive offers a strong product for startups who are focused primarily on deal flows and are looking for a sales first CRM option.

HubSpot

One of the longest standing CRMs serving 248,000+ customers globally, HubSpot’s strength lies in its established ecosystem of integrations and tools for sales and marketing. The free tier is generous, with unlimited contacts making it a strong option for newer companies - however, pricing can rise steeply as additional tools are added.

HubSpot has been fast to implement AI capabilities across its product stack, with Breeze AI being the flagship of this. However, the legacy and scale of the product, it is still unknown whether HubSpot will be able to make these AI additions feel truly native as its newer competitors have.

Monday CRM

Built on the popular Work OS platform, Monday CRM offers a colorful, intuitive interface familiar to existing Monday.com users. With over 245,000 customers across its broader suite, Monday CRM combines flexibility with accessibility.

The system feels part-spreadsheet, part-visual dashboard, with multiple views and strong no-code automation. AI features are growing quickly, including Monday Magic, a natural language workflow builder and a “Digital Workforce” of task-specific AI agents. Pricing ranges from $12-28/monthly per user, making it affordable while still scaling effectively with a team’s needs.
