Makersite raises €60m to help manufacturers like Microsoft & Schneider Electric design safer, more sustainable products through AI-powered analytics

Makersite's Product Lifecycle Intelligence platform integrates financial, environmental, regulatory and risk analytics, helping manufacturers to create products that are safer, more cost-effective and environmentally sustainable.

By delivering profound visibility into supply chain operations, the software empowers companies to make well-informed decisions across the entire product development process.

Makersite has successfully closed a Series B funding round of €60 million (US$70.2m) to advance its mission: to forge a world where every product is manufactured to be the most affordable, safe and green possible through the use of intelligent automation, deep product knowledge and integrations.

Neil D'Souza, CEO and Founder of Makersite, says: "This investment marks a critical milestone in our mission to make sustainable product design the default."Securing this level of commitment — especially in today's uncertain economic and geopolitical environment — demonstrates the strength of our business case and the urgency of our mission.

"The funding will allow us to accelerate platform development, deepen integration with our technology partners and scale our impact globally."

Major manufacturers drive platform adoption

The fresh capital injection will be used to speed up platform development and fund the expansion of Makersite's technology infrastructure and workforce.

This strategic growth is a direct response to rising adoption among leading manufacturers such as Microsoft, Daikin, Cummins, Barco and Schneider Electric, which depend on the platform for optimising their product strategies and managing their supply chains.

The round was co-led by Lightrock and Partech and was joined by SE Ventures. All of Makersite's Series A investors – including Hitachi Ventures, KOMPAS VC, Translink Capital and Planet A – also took part in the round.

Julien Cristiani, General Partner at SE Ventures, says: "We were impressed by the Makersite team's expertise in lifecycle and supply chain intelligence."Their domain knowledge, combined with a clear execution track record, stood out immediately.

"What sealed our conviction was the company's growth and the level of automation they've achieved – being able to process thousands of SKUs with such speed and precision is a game-changer for supply chain visibility and sustainable product development at scale."

AI-powered data intelligence creates competitive edge

With its AI-powered platform, Makersite offers manufacturers a more profound understanding of their supply chains, addressing issues like fixing product data.

The platform assists by taking customer data that is fragmented and inconsistent, then applying AI to connect, cleanse and structure it.

This enriched data is then merged with Makersite's proprietary data foundation — which is considered one of today's most extensive sources of supply chain information.

This includes specifics on how materials and components are produced, their associated costs, environmental footprint and regulatory standing.

Built on this strong data foundation, Makersite delivers the tools and system integrations necessary for cross-functional teams to assess design and procurement choices in real time.

The platform also facilitates performance reporting, enabling customers to convey key metrics — like cost, carbon emissions, product compliance and risk — to internal stakeholders, customers and regulatory bodies.

Makersite, with its team of more than 150, empowers leading manufacturers — including Microsoft, Daikin, Cummins, Barco and Schneider Electric — to engineer safer, more sustainable and compliant products.
The platform's effect is measurable: Microsoft, for instance, has lowered the carbon footprint of its Surface Pro 10 laptop by up to 28% in just two years, while Schneider Electric intends to use Makersite for scaling EPD and eco-design across a portfolio exceeding 200,000 stock keeping units (SKUs).

Schneider Electric's Chief Digital Officer, Peter Weckesser

Schneider Electric's Chief Digital Officer, Peter Weckesser, adds: "Partnering with Makersite gives our teams and customers unparalleled insight into the environmental impact of products, accelerating our journey toward net-zero and setting new benchmarks for resilience and innovation."

Treating sustainability as a balanced trade-off

The Makersite platform is designed to integrate with top-tier product lifecycle management (PLM) systems, including Siemens' Teamcenter software and PTC Windchill, as well as design tools like Ansys and Autodesk, which are already widely used by manufacturers.

"Our commitment to Makersite reflects our strong confidence in their vision and their unique approach—treating sustainability as a balanced trade-off between cost, safety and environmental performance, rather than simply a 'green' checkbox," says Chris Steinau, Partner at Lightrock.

"Makersite's outstanding technology and clear market traction position them as a future leader in helping manufacturers navigate today's complex challenges and deliver real, measurable impact."

The appetite for a tool like Makersite is intensified by an increasingly competitive manufacturing landscape, coupled with rising pressure on corporations to manage their greenhouse gas emissions.

Moreover, as expectations from regulators and stakeholders grow, manufacturers are actively looking for methods to adhere to new standards while simultaneously reassessing and reorganising their supply networks to boost resilience and reduce supply chain risk.

Arnaud Minvielle, General Partners at Partech

Arnaud Minvielle and Remi Said, General Partners at Partech, add: "We are very honoured and proud to invest in this global impact champion.

"We have very strong convictions on Makersite's product superiority, the depth of its market where R&D and complex purchasing can be transformed through accelerated insight generation and the exceptional talent of Neil and his team.

"We believe that we can support Makersite in its next S-curve, alongside Lightrock and other shareholders."
