How Norton is Rolling Out AI Defences Against Scams Globally

Cyber safety leader Norton is taking an intelligence-powered leap in the fight against digital scams with the global rollout of its AI-powered Scam Protection.
Deployed across the full suite of Norton 360 and Norton mobile plans, the expansion reflects the company’s drive to deliver proactive protection for everyone, everywhere.
Making scam protection universal
As scams increase in volume and sophistication, cybercriminals continue to use social engineering as a gateway to more severe financial fraud and identity theft.
Gen Threat Labs – the cybersecurity research team within Gen Digital, also the parent company of Norton – reports that social engineering threats, including scams, now account for more than 80% of desktop and mobile threats worldwide in the first three quarters of 2025.
On average, Gen blocks 110 social engineering-related attempts every second, meaning hundreds will have been stopped in the time it takes to read this article alone.
“We’re making Norton AI-powered scam defence as universal as the scams themselves,” says Leena Elias, Chief Product Officer at Gen.
“By expanding Norton Scam Protection across every Norton market, we’re not just rolling out technology – we’re raising the bar for what online safety means: that no matter where you live, you deserve the same chance to protect yourself from sophisticated scams.”
Real-time, multi-channel defence
Norton Scam Protection now provides real-time defence against scams across web, email, SMS, videos and phone calls wherever Norton products are available.
Included at no extra cost for both desktop and mobile users through Norton AntiVirus Plus, Norton Mobile Security and Norton 360 plans, the solution delivers several advanced features:
- Deepfake protection: Instantly detects malicious AI-generated audio in English-language videos on YouTube and Facebook, which is also compatible with AI PCs for automatic protection
- Safe web: Offers advanced, AI-driven scam detection while shopping or browsing, actively safeguarding online interactions
- Safe SMS: Powered by Norton Genie AI, this feature analyses the language of text messages to spot sophisticated scams It is exclusively available on mobile, offering protection right where users encounter the most risk
- Genie AI-powered assistant: Provides instant scam guidance and advice at the tap of a button – and now enhanced with Deepfake Protection for English-language YouTube videos and actionable cyber safety insights.
Norton’s AI-powered technology is designed to keep pace with fast-changing scam tactics, using advanced algorithms to catch threats that traditional security tools might miss.
The newly-introduced Deepfake Protection is in early access, supporting only English-language YouTube videos for now.
Automatic Deepfake Protection currently works on YouTube and Facebook for videos in English, with manual scans supported elsewhere. It requires a Windows Copilot+ PC equipped with a compatible Qualcomm or Intel processor and a supported browser.
Raising the bar for cyber safety
By making AI-powered scam protection a standard feature across all markets, Norton is setting a new benchmark in online safety.
Scams may be pervasive, but with proactive, AI-driven tools offered at no extra cost, users around the world are better equipped to safeguard themselves – from browsing to shopping and texting to answering calls.
