UiPath and Deloitte redefine ERP modernisation with intelligent, agentic automation, driving faster, scalable and agile finance operations at scale

With business complexities accelerating and global scale challenges at every turn, traditional enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems are buckling under outdated manual processes and fragmented data flows.

Despite the challenges, these systems still form the backbone of modern enterprises, integrating core business processes across finance, supply chain, HR and more.

So why have ERP modernisation projects been so complex, costly and risky? Why are issues of legacy system fragmentation, manual process bottlenecks and cumbersome customisations still rearing their ugly heads?

In a bid to combat these issues, UiPath and Deloitte have come together for their Customer Zero initiative, which breaks this mould by embedding agentic automation at the very core of ERP transformation – redefining what’s possible for SAP S/4HANA migration in the digital era.

Addressing legacy ERP challenges

Faced with fragmented legacy systems, slow billing and revenue recognition as well as complex multi-GAAP compliance demands, UiPath recognised that a traditional ERP upgrade alone is not enough.

The company’s challenge was multifaceted: improve operational speed, boost scalability and reduce the friction of manual intervention – all while future-proofing the platform against ongoing change.

The solution? An automation-first strategy, embedded into SAP S/4HANA migration.

By working in collaboration with Deloitte, UiPath was able to embed its agentic automation platform deeply into the migration process.

This involved deploying more than 200 intelligent automations leveraging robotic process automation (RPA), intelligent document processing (IDP), AI-driven orchestration and custom UiPath applications.

This not only replaced old ERP software, but transformed how data flows and decisions are automated end to end.

“Agentic ERP is not just a vision – it’s the logical next step in the evolution of enterprise systems,” says Mihai Faur, CIO of UiPath.

“Our Customer Zero journey demonstrates how organisations can future-proof their operations by embedding intelligent, agentic automation into every fabric of their ERP landscape.”

This automation-first methodology streamlined data migration, enhanced integrations between SAP and surrounding systems and eliminated countless manual bottlenecks, especially in finance functions such as billing, revenue recognition and account reconciliation.

The key outcomes: Efficiency, scalability and agility

The proof is in the pudding with this collaboration.

The UiPath automation-led ERP transformation has seen:
  • More than 200 automations delivered across core processes by the UiPath centre of excellence (CoE)
  • 85%+ of critical finance workflows are now executed by unattended automations transforming billing, revenue recognition and account reconciliation from manual input to automated processes
  • 93% clean core has been achieved, exceeding the industry benchmark of 80% – minimising technical debt and enabling agile upgrades
  • 60% of test cases are now automated, drastically reducing business user fatigue and accelerating time to deployment
  • 10% acceleration in project delivery, demonstrating real-world efficiency gains from automation-enabled velocity in testing, validation, and integration.

“Agentic capabilities are essential to deliver automation-driven ERP outcomes,” says Jerry Hoberman, US SAP Offering Leader at Deloitte.

“Building on Deloitte and UiPath’s commitment to deliver Intelligent Automation solutions for our joint clients, together, we can help organisations unlock transformative business value as they move to SAP S/4HANA and RISE.”

Moving toward agentic systems

Beyond immediate benefits, Customer Zero sets the stage for the future of ERP — intelligent, agentic systems where AI agents autonomously orchestrate and optimise workflows across multiple enterprise systems. Powered by UiPath Maestro, this architecture promises continuous innovation, exceptional agility and seamless coordination between AI, robots and people.

Hitesh Ramani, Chief Accounting Officer and Deputy CFO of UiPath, adds: “Our work with Deloitte demonstrates that automation isn’t just an enabler – it’s a catalyst for enterprise reinvention.
