NTT Data Names Kazuhiko Nakayama New CEO to Lead AI Growth

NTT Data Group has confirmed Kazuhiko Nakayama as President and CEO with immediate effect. The board of directors approved the appointment following a succession process.
Kazuhiko previously held the position of CFO at NTT Data Group and now aims to focus on the firm’s AI-centred growth strategy across more than 70 countries and regions.
Yutaka Sasaki, the previous President and CEO, will take up the role of Senior Executive Vice President of NTT from 18 June.
According to the company, NTT Data Group is valued at US$60bn and serves more than 70% of companies in the Fortune Global 100.
From CFO to CEO
Kazuhiko joined NTT in 1989 and his career has included roles at NTT Docomo, NTT East and NTT Communications before his appointment as CFO of NTT Data Group in 2023.
“Over the past three years I have had the honour of working closely with Mr Sasaki and the leadership team on a strategic course that has established NTT Data among the top five IT services businesses globally,” he says.
“That experience has reinforced my conviction in the strength of our offering, the quality of our people and the size of the opportunity ahead.”
“As I take on the responsibilities of CEO and lead the growth of the NTT Data Group going forward, I feel a deep sense of dedication, possibility and excitement.”
AI and infrastructure priorities
The growth strategy under Kazuhiko will focus on two key areas alongside core business operations, including AI-empowered new value and productivity, and next-generation infrastructure.
NTT Data Group intends to apply this strategy to areas including operational AI. The company also plans to develop physical AI for application in physical spaces, such as worksites and facilities.
“The appointment of Mr Nakayama as President and CEO follows a thoughtful and carefully planned succession process,” Yutaka says.
“Under the leadership of Mr Nakayama, NTT Data Group will embark on a new management structure.”
Growth within the NTT Group
Yutaka describes NTT Data Group as being at the core of the wider NTT Group structure. He expresses confidence in the company’s direction under the new leadership.
“Under Mr Nakayama’s renewed growth strategy, I look forward to seeing continued strength in performance and a commitment to achieving quality growth together as One NTT Data,” he says.
Before his CFO role, Kazuhiko was Senior Vice President, and Head of Finance and Accounting, at NTT, which operates as a provider of AI, digital business and technology services across multiple markets.
NTT Data Group has also stated its commitment to responsible innovation. The firm aims to accelerate client outcomes while creating positive impacts for companies and society through its service delivery model.
