OpenAI has appointed Arvind KC as Chief People Officer, signalling the company’s intent to responsibly scale its workforce amid the ongoing AI transformation of the global economy.

Arvind, who previously served as Chief People and Systems Officer at Roblox, has a unique background combining engineering with people leadership at industry giants including Google, Palantir Technologies and Meta.

His mandate is to ensure OpenAI’s internal growth structure supports sustained high performance.

Arvind is renowned for understanding “how high-performing technical teams operate” and implementing “strong, practical systems” that enable employees to excel without organisational friction.

His focus will span foundational elements like hiring, onboarding and development, while also optimising systems and policies to enhance collaboration and velocity.

The CPO role at OpenAI is positioned as central to the company’s own transition to an “AI-enabled work” model.

CEO of Applications Fidji Simo says Arvind will play a key role in ensuring the firm’s people processes “match our ambition, while preserving the culture” that fostered its success.

This move carries significant weight for the broader enterprise sector.

OpenAI recognises its “obligation... to society” to provide a proven model for how organisations can adapt and invest in talent growth as AI reshapes work.

This initiative encompasses evolving job roles, developing new skills and implementing education and re-skilling programmes to keep pace with rapid technological change.

Arvind says: “This is a moment where every organisation is being asked to rethink how work happens, what teams need, how people grow and how to adapt as the tools change”.

Arvind’s arrival underscores a critical shift: even the most cutting-edge AI labs prioritise human capital and optimised systems for enterprise-grade expansion.
