PwC and SAP Complete One of Largest Global ERP Moves

PwC has successfully implemented the SAP Cloud ERP solution to modernise operations, marking one of the largest global transformations in enterprise resource planning (ERP).
This milestone unifies more than 100,000 PwC professionals across 19 countries on an intelligent, scalable ERP platform, enabling the firm to streamline processes and accelerate innovation.
Modernising legacy systems
The new implementation replaces PwC’s legacy landscape made up of highly customised SAP ERP Central Component (SAP ECC) software alongside various third-party applications, which had created operational complexity and fragmentation.
The joint effort between PwC and SAP leverages a suite of SAP Business Suite solutions including SAP Cloud ERP, SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP), SAP Concur, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP Datasphere, SAP Advanced Financial Closing, SAP Risk & Assurance Management and SAP Enable Now.
“Moving to SAP Cloud ERP is enabling greater connectivity across our firm, streamlining operations and equipping our people with tools and insights to better serve our clients,” says Colin Wittmer, PwC US’ CFO.
“Our firm’s collaboration with SAP was critical to supporting this implementation as one of the largest ever completed.”
Driving operational efficiency and agility
The SAP Cloud ERP platform supports comprehensive finance and project operations such as project billing, revenue recognition, cash basis accounting and treasury functions.
Designed with a clean core architecture, built on SAP BTP, the solution reduces operational complexity while enhancing user self-service capabilities.
PwC now operates on a more agile, scalable and standardised technological foundation that enables it to respond more effectively to client and business needs.
“Our move to SAP Cloud ERP represents a significant leap forward in driving agility and innovation across PwC,” says James Shira, PwC’s Global and US CIO.
“By leveraging SAP’s native capabilities, industry-leading practices and a fit-to-standard approach, we have unlocked greater automation and efficiency, reduced complexity and enabled AI-driven insights, agentic AI innovations and advanced analytics – all while maintaining standardisation as a core principle.
“Successfully completing this transformation within a highly complex ecosystem and operating our business from day one of the SAP Cloud ERP launch underscores the strength of our relationship and execution.”
The implementation also integrates PwC’s ongoing use of SAP Business AI technologies such as the Joule copilot, opening new doors for efficiency, innovation and business intelligence.
This foundation positions PwC to explore future enhancements in data management and analytics through SAP Business Data Cloud, supported by PwC’s SAP Managed Services team working alongside SAP.
Strategic partnerships
Thomas Saueressig, Member of the Executive Board of SAP SE for Customer Services & Delivery, praises the success as validation of SAP Cloud ERP’s capacity to drive large-scale enterprise transformation.
“PwC’s successful go-live is a testament to the power of SAP Cloud ERP and SAP Business Suite to drive large-scale transformation powered by SAP Business AI,” he says.
“We’re proud to support PwC in its journey toward becoming an intelligent, data-driven enterprise.”
This transformation marks an important moment not only for PwC but for the broader enterprise technology landscape.
The shift signals how global firms are leveraging cloud-native ERP and AI capabilities to unify operations at scale, reduce technical debt and future-proof their infrastructure in a fast-evolving business environment.
PwC’s successful rollout offers a roadmap for other large organisations seeking to simplify and modernise their ERP ecosystems while unlocking AI-driven operational intelligence.
As PwC continues to build on this modernised core, its partnership with SAP will explore ongoing innovations across business processes and data insights, confirming the critical role of collaborative technology strategies in driving business value and competitiveness.
