Salesforce’s US$6bn Investment Into a UK AI Hub for Europe

Salesforce has announced a landmark US$6bn investment in its UK operations through 2030, doubling down on its commitment to position the UK as a leading AI innovation hub for Europe.
Building on an earlier US$4bn pledge from 2023 and its establishment of the first Salesforce AI Center in London, this expanded investment epitomises Salesforce’s strategic vision to accelerate AI-driven transformation for UK and European businesses.
“We are doubling down on our long-standing commitment to the UK with this significant investment,” says Marc Benioff, Chair, CEO and Co-Founder of Salesforce.
“We’re delighted that the UK, already a vital talent and innovation centre, will become our AI hub for Europe, driving product innovation for customers across the region.”
The drive toward agentic enterprise
Central to Salesforce’s AI strategy are technologies like Data Cloud and Agentforce, which enable businesses to become ‘Agentic Enterprises’.
These are organisations where AI agents collaborate alongside human workers, enhancing productivity, creating novel revenue streams and innovating ways of working.
The UK – Salesforce’s largest market outside the US – plays a critical role in this vision.
With 78% of UK C-suite executives already utilising AI agents, the marketplace reflects both the demand and capability for AI adoption at scale within the region.
Salesforce’s AI Centre in London supports hundreds of UK customers across sectors including Capita, Formula 1 and Simplyhealth, showcasing the breadth of AI impact.
The recent acquisitions of AI startups Convergence.ai and Own Company further bolster the centre’s capabilities while new UK-based R&D teams will focus on expanding AI product innovation across Europe.
Salesforce is also preparing to welcome Informatica to its UK operations pending regulatory approvals, signalling continued growth of its AI ecosystem.
“The UK has long been a pioneer in driving global AI breakthroughs and I’m thrilled that Salesforce is contributing to this legacy,” says Zahra Bahrololoumi, CEO of Salesforce UK & Ireland.
“With our deep pool of talent, we will power responsible AI innovation and help our European customer base transform their organisations.”
Salesforce: The impact on the economy and talent
AI’s economic impact in the UK is substantial.
According to IDC projections sponsored by Salesforce, the UK Salesforce economy powered by AI is forecast to contribute more than US$41bn in economic benefits and create upwards of 500,000 jobs by 2028.
This growth highlights AI not only as a driver of innovation but also as a cornerstone of future workforce expansion and economic development.
Salesforce is committed to ensuring this transformation benefits the UK workforce broadly through skills training and education initiatives.
The company has long advocated for a national digital skills platform and has partnered with the UK government’s national skills drive aimed at enhancing AI training accessibility for millions across the country.
Investing in the UK’s AI innovation ecosystem
Salesforce Ventures – the company’s investment arm – has contributed more than US$200m to emerging UK AI companies shaping the future.
Notable investments include ElevenLabs, focusing on AI audio research, Climate X, which provides climate adaptation and resilience data solutions and Covecta, which develops agentic AI applications for the financial services sector.
These strategic investments complement Salesforce’s expansion by nurturing a vibrant AI ecosystem within the UK.
In addition to commercial investments, Salesforce has launched a £1m (US$1.4bn) Salesforce Accelerator programme in the UK, specifically designed to empower nonprofits to harness AI for greater impact.

Through the Salesforce Accelerator – Agents for Impact initiative, nonprofits receive funding, leading-edge technology and pro bono expertise to build and customise AI agents that enhance operational efficiency and community service delivery.
Globally, Salesforce’s Accelerator programme has provided more than US$10m to 38 purpose-driven organisations to date, helping nonprofits scale impact via AI-driven solutions.
Salesforce’s place in the UK’s tech and AI landscape
Salesforce’s expanded investment and new AI hub come amid a broader wave of UK AI ecosystem growth backed by supportive policy and infrastructure development.
The UK government’s Autumn Budget 2024 introduced AI Growth Zones and workforce training initiatives, complementing Salesforce’s ambitions and the country’s strong AI readiness index score.
This environment bolsters Salesforce’s mission to drive responsible AI innovation while securing the UK’s future as a leading global AI hub.
Through its multi-million-dollar commitment, Salesforce is not only consolidating its leadership in AI-powered customer relationship management but also catalysing UK and European businesses’ transformation into AI-empowered enterprises.
By leveraging local talent, cutting-edge R&D and strategic partnerships, Salesforce is shaping a future where AI and humans collaborate to create economic growth, innovation and social good.
UK Technology Minister, Kanishka Narayan, says: “Salesforce’s decision to expand its investment in the UK underlines the strength of our economy, people and our ambition to be a global leader in technology and AI.
“This investment will support the UK’s mission to be a world-leading AI and data hub that creates jobs, builds AI skills and supports innovation across the country – ensuring the UK remains one of the best places to start and grow a digital business.”
