Starting his career at T-Systems in 2009, Patrick Beyer has climbed through the business from IT Project Manager to Vice President Global Business Operations. T-Systems has several portfolio units; Beyer, in particular, runs the Global Business Operations in T-Systems’ Private Cloud Business.
Since joining in 09, Beyer explains that over the last 12 years, T-Systems has transformed from a traditional IT outsourcing provider with a heavy German footprint and a heavy German culture to an integrated IT service company with global delivery capabilities, a strong global customer base and industry-focused expertise.
“When I look a bit deeper into it, I can say in our products we have a much higher partner focus, in the processes we have a global delivery with more than 8,000 colleagues in near and offshore, with real partners in this delivery, not just an extended workbench. We have also changed our entire steering to a portfolio driven company that is much more focused on cloud and digital solutions. But, the biggest change is, we are focusing much more on agile working and on outward mindset, enabling more flexibility while tackling complex problems and seeing others more as individuals are some of the largest trends I've seen in the last two years at T-Systems,” says Beyer.
“T-Systems is one of the leading IT service providers in Europe, with 28,000 employees and a revenue of €4.2bn a year. We are serving our customers with nearly all services, from digital solutions to cloud services and security services, and this makes us really unique in the market in that we can serve the entire value chain for our customers.”
When asked what inspires him, Beyer says, “What really inspires me is thinking through very complex problems and finding excellent solutions for them, while putting the customer always in the focus of what we are doing. What is coming to my focus more and more as an executive leader in T-Systems is that I really want to shape new ideas with motivated employees who are passionate about their job, who are frequently coming up with new ideas and who are pushing me with new ideas.
“When I’m not sitting in front of the screen or working in the office, then what inspires me is everything about flying, from ski jumping to drone flying, parachuting and flying golf balls. This and for sure my family are what really drives me forward in my private life.”
Reflecting on his achievements over the length of his career at T-Systems to date, Beyer says, “In 2018, I took over my first executive role, ramping up a new strategy department in our private cloud business. During this period, I framed up a very new department, creating the entire strategy for our private cloud business, and what makes me really proud is the strategy still exists.
“When we created this department, everything was new. We conceived the new vision, mission and strategy based on customer analysis, market studies and trend analysis, creating a new process for the entire development of the private cloud. We have set new standards for our R&D processes, for new innovation processes and a new product roadmap. We still benefit from this today in the T-Systems Private Cloud”
