SHANGHAI, April 22, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- USI (SSE: 601231), a leading electronics designer and manufacturer in the world, announced the launch of its SOM (System on Module) modules for rugged handheld devices and tablet computers. The MS-01 PRO WWAN multi-frequency band wireless System on Module and the MS-01 WiFi wireless System on Module were developed based on USI's experience in designing miniaturized wireless technology modules and rugged mobile wireless terminals. Today, leading brands are fully utilizing these two types of modules in their solutions for various industrial IoT applications.

USI has obtained CE, FCC and IC RF/EMC certifications as well as certifications from the PCS Type Certification Review Board (PTCRB), a certification board created by North American cellular operators, and the Global Certification Forum (GCF) for the MS-01 PRO WWAN and MS-01 WiFi System on Modules. When coupled with Qualcomm Snapdragon SDM660/SDA660 SoCs (specifically designed for IoT products), the combined solution is suitable for industrial IoT and related AI applications. Built for Android-based devices, the SOM system modules can integrate a diverse portfolio of system functions and allow customization onto rugged handheld devices, tablet computers and vehicle mount computers.

"USI has long been an important provider of modules for RuggON's networking solutions, including WiFi, BT, LoRa & WWAN. By choosing MS-01 PRO and MS -01 system modules to develop new rugged tablet computers and relying on the Qualcomm SD660 IoT chipset and technical support from USI, we have managed to beat our competitors to develop SOL PA501, a rugged tablet running Android 9 and certified by Google GMS. We are confident that in terms of industrial IoT-related products, USI has the capabilities to continuously provide effective and competitive solutions," said HC Lee, Product Marketing Associate of RuggON.

"In the era of industrial IoT, it is important to provide customers with fast and effective solutions in response to rapid market changes as well as miniaturization and diversification requirements. USI is committed to applying miniaturization technology to wireless communication modules and related applications. The MS-01 PRO and MS-01 system modules using Qualcomm SD660 chips are designed to meet the needs of industrial handheld devices. They also comply with stringent environmental testing requirements of industrial system products. A variety of industrial IoT-related products have been developed through our cooperation with leading clients in the industry," said Kevin Lan, Vice President of Wireless & Mobility Solutions BU of USI.

To cope with growing IoT market needs and application upgrades, USI boasts a range of networking module design and manufacture capabilities. The company also actively cooperates with first-rate clients and widely participates in the development of 4G/5G vehicle communication modules, providing manufacturing technologies and services to accelerate clients' deployment of module products required in the future connected car market.
