The exam covers six domains: Attacks, Threats and Vulnerabilities; Architecture and Design; Implementation; Operations and Incident Response; Governance, Risk and Compliance; and Cryptography and PKI.

The certification requires passing a single exam and is recommended for professionals with at least two years of IT administration experience with a security focus. 7. Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)

CEH is a specialised certification for information security professionals who want to understand how to find weaknesses and vulnerabilities in target systems. 6. Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)

Offered by ISACA, it validates the holder's expertise in auditing, controlling, monitoring and assessing an organisation's information technology and business systems. The certification covers five domains: Information Systems Auditing Process; Governance and Management of IT; Information Systems Acquisition, Development and Implementation; Information Systems Operations and Business Resilience; and Protection of Information Assets.

It's particularly valuable for IT auditors, consultants, security professionals and IT/IS managers. 5. Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)

The certification covers four key domains: Information Security Governance, Information Risk Management, Information Security Program Development and Management and Information Security Incident Management.

4. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

CISSP is a globally recognised certification for information security professionals, offered by (ISC)². It validates expertise across a broad range of security practices and principles. The certification covers eight domains: Security and Risk Management, Asset Security, Security Architecture and Engineering, Communication and Network Security, Identity and Access Management, Security Assessment and Testing, Security Operations and Software Development Security. 

CISSP is ideal for experienced security practitioners, managers, and executives, including roles like Chief Information Security Officer, Security Analyst and Security Consultant. It requires a minimum of five years of cumulative, paid work experience in two or more of the eight domains. It's accredited under ANAB and approved by the U.S. Department of Defense.

3. AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate

This certification validates a candidate's expertise in designing and implementing systems on Amazon Web Services (AWS). It covers a wide range of AWS services, focusing on compute, networking, storage and database solutions. The exam tests knowledge of deploying, managing and operating workloads on AWS, as well as implementing security controls and compliance requirements. It's a 130-minute exam with 65 multiple-choice or multiple-response questions, costing US$150. 

The certification is ideal for professionals with experience in AWS technology or strong on-premises IT backgrounds. It demonstrates proficiency in using the AWS Management Console and Command Line Interface, understanding the AWS Well-Architected Framework, and identifying appropriate AWS services for technical requirements. 2. Google Cloud - Professional Data Engineer

This certification is designed for professionals who make data valuable and usable within organisations using Google Cloud technologies. The exam is a two-hour assessment with 50-60 multiple-choice and multiple-select questions. It's recommended for individuals with 3+ years of industry experience, including at least one year working with Google Cloud solutions. 

The certification demonstrates proficiency in creating and managing robust data processing systems, including design, build, deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and security aspects. With an average annual salary of $193,621, it's a highly lucrative certification. Like other Google Cloud certifications, it requires recertification every two years to ensure professionals stay current with evolving data technologies.

This certification validates expertise in designing, developing, and managing robust solutions on Google Cloud. It covers key areas like solution architecture planning, infrastructure management, security and compliance design, and process optimisation. The exam assesses candidates' ability to leverage Google Cloud technologies effectively, with a focus on creating scalable, highly available, and dynamic solutions. It's a two-hour exam consisting of 50-60 multiple-choice and multiple-select questions, including case studies. 

The certification is ideal for professionals with 3+ years of industry experience, including at least one year of Google Cloud experience. With an average annual salary of US$200,960, it's one of the highest-paying IT certifications. The certification is valid for two years and requires recertification to maintain status, reflecting the rapidly evolving nature of cloud technologies.
