The importance of DE&I in Technology

For companies looking to get DE&I right, Montilla explains there is still a lot of work to do.

“One of the issues that I see is that sometimes people seem to be afraid of saying the wrong thing, and in the end they end up saying nothing at all. It's either that or sometimes there is a lot in writing, like you can go to an organisation’s website and see a lot of information in writing, but when you actually get to the data and what they're doing, it doesn't meet the goals.

"I think this is an ongoing process. This is not something that you can do once and have a checkmark, and say ‘okay, I'm done, this is good and we can move on’. It goes beyond that. 

“Over the years I can see that there is more focus on DE&I. I am here, speaking with you today, and this is not something that was happening years ago. So the focus is in the right place.”
