The global sports entertainment industry has been growing rapidly, with companies like Topgolf at the forefront of combining traditional sports with modern technology.

AI is increasingly being used in this sector to optimise operations, improving customer experiences and competitive advantages.

Topgolf is a global sports entertainment company that has set a goal of reaching 50 billion balls hit by 2025, by leveraging AI to enhance its operations and improve its customer experience.

To achieve its ambitious target, the company has partnered with LogicMonitor, a global company that provides software for monitoring IT systems.

How LogicMonitor’s AI tools enhance Topgolf’s IT infrastructure

LogicMonitor's LM Envision platform, a SaaS-based hybrid observability system, is at the heart of this technological transformation.

The platform utilises AI to provide a comprehensive view of Topgolf's entire IT ecosystem, from core infrastructure to IoT devices in individual golf bays.

The report reveals that Topgolf previously relied on ten separate monitoring tools, creating a fragmented approach to IT management.

However, LogicMonitor's solution consolidates these disparate systems into a single, unified platform, offering real-time insights and predictive analytics.

Another key feature of LM Envision, is its agentless monitoring capability.

This allows Topgolf to gather data from various sources without installing software agents on each monitored device, reducing overhead and simplifying deployment.

The platform's AI algorithms analyse this data to identify patterns, predict potential issues and suggest proactive measures.

This consolidation of monitoring tools has enhanced Topgolf's ability to manage and resolve issues proactively already, ensuring uninterrupted gameplay for customers.

Mike Zvolanek, Director of Global Infrastructure at Topgolf

Mike Zvolanek, Director of Global Infrastructure at Topgolf, says: "Our goal was to get our organisation to a state where we're less reactive and more proactive.
“LogicMonitor helps us stay ahead of issues before they impact our venues and cause revenue losses."

How LogicMonitor’s AI is improving Topgolf’s customer experience

Topgolf operates over 100 venues worldwide where customers play golf-based games in high-tech driving ranges, and by using AI, the company’s executives and support teams now have access to detailed analytics that inform strategic decision-making.

Yet the AI-driven insights provided by LM Envision extend beyond immediate problem-solving.

LogicMonitor’s new AI system has significantly reduced the time it takes Topgolf to resolve IT issues, according to the report.

Previously, it took an average of 15 minutes to fix a problem.

Now, most issues are resolved in less than two minutes.

This improvement, known as mean-time-to-resolution, minimises disruptions for players and ensures a smoother experience.

LogicMonitor's platform also addresses the unique challenges of Topgolf's distributed infrastructure.

With venues globally, each containing numerous IoT devices and specialised equipment, the ability to monitor and manage these assets remotely is crucial.

LM Envision's cloud-based architecture enables centralised monitoring and management, ensuring consistent performance across all locations.

Julie Solliday, Chief Customer Officer at LogicMonitor, says: "Over the last three years we've supported Topgolf in their quest to revolutionise the sports entertainment industry and we are thrilled to grow with them as they drive towards 50 billion balls hit.

“Our platform is designed to provide unparalleled visibility and reliability, enabling Topgolf to deliver consistent, high-quality experiences to their customers while achieving their operational goals."

Research has found that many people think AI will have a positive impact on sports, such as 55% of global tennis fans, with tennis being one of the most iconic sporting events that is leveraging cutting-edge technology to further transform the digital experience.

AI is revolutionising sports by optimising athlete performance, enhancing fan experiences and streamlining operations.
