Software giant introduces over 100 new Creative Cloud features and expands its Firefly Gen AI models, aiming to streamline content creation

Adobe, known for its creative and marketing tools, has announced a suite of new features and products at its annual MAX conference in Miami Beach.

The company, which produces software such as Photoshop and Illustrator, unveiled over 100 new capabilities for its Creative Cloud platform, many of which leverage artificial intelligence to enhance content creation and editing processes.

AI-powered innovation

At the heart of Adobe's announcements is the expansion of its Firefly family of generative AI models. The company introduced a new Firefly Video Model, currently in beta, which allows users to generate video content from text and image prompts. This technology also enables the extension of video clips and the smoothing of transitions, with integration into Adobe's video editing software, Premiere Pro.

David Wadhwani, President of Digital Media at Adobe, said: “We're giving the creative community a powerful new brush to paint the world by putting unprecedented power, precision and creative control in their hands.”

Adobe has also improved its existing Firefly Image 3 Model, claiming it can now generate images four times faster than previous versions. The company's Vector Model, used in Adobe Illustrator, has been enhanced to provide designers with more creative control.

Enhancements to core products

Adobe’s flagship image editing software, Photoshop, received several new features. These include Distraction Removal, which uses AI to eliminate unwanted elements from images, and Generative Workspace, a tool for simultaneous ideation and concept development.

Illustrator, Adobe's vector graphics editor, now includes Objects on Path, a feature that allows users to quickly arrange objects along any path on their artboard. The software also boasts Enhanced Image Trace, which Adobe says improves the conversion of images to vectors.

Collaboration and content scaling

Recognising the growing need for efficient collaboration in creative workflows, Adobe announced the general availability of a new version of Frame.io. This platform, which Adobe acquired in 2021, now supports collaboration across audio, photo, and design projects, in addition to its existing video post-production capabilities.

Canon, Nikon and Leica have joined Frame.io's Camera to Cloud ecosystem, which Adobe describes as “the fastest, easiest and most secure way to get media from the set to the people who need to work with it.”

Enterprise solutions

For its enterprise customers, Adobe also introduced GenStudio for Performance Marketing, an application within its broader GenStudio solution. This tool aims to optimise the content supply chain for marketing campaigns and personalised customer experiences.

Adobe has expanded partnerships with major digital advertising platforms, including Google's Campaign Manager 360, Meta, Microsoft Advertising, Snap and TikTok with the aim to enable brands to activate campaigns across platforms and make real-time adjustments based on performance insights.

Educational initiatives

Adobe also revealed plans to help 30 million learners and teachers develop AI literacy, content creation, and digital marketing skills using Adobe Express. Wadhwani stated: “With the demand for content projected to grow exponentially, we're empowering creators to scale the use of their content across marketing, HR and sales teams.”
