As worldwide networks grow more complex, the need for sophisticated monitoring tools is becoming increasingly paramount.

This is particularly evident in Europe, where telecom providers are investing heavily in network infrastructure to meet the growing demand for high-speed internet and advanced communication services.

Against this backdrop, a partnership has formed in Portugal, highlighting the industry's focus on enhancing network performance and customer satisfaction.

NOS, Portugal's largest communications and entertainment group, has partnered with Park Place Technologies to implement Entuity Software for enhanced network monitoring.

NOS, which provides a wide range of services including fixed and mobile phone, television, internet and data solutions, serves over 11 million consumer, business and institutional customers across Portugal.

Improving network visibility and management

The adoption of Entuity Software is set to bolster NOS's ability to monitor and manage its critical network assets and infrastructure.

Entuity Software, designed for multi-vendor and multi-cloud environments, enables IT operations teams to monitor, visualise and manage IT infrastructure more efficiently.

Paulo Bessa, Head of Development at NOS Business Solutions, said: “Entuity will be a core part of our OSS architecture and supporting operations to deliver on NOS’s mission of providing to companies and institutions in Portugal the best solutions and services to their businesses and delivering the best experience.

“A reliable quality of service isn’t just a benefit of what NOS delivers to their customers – it’s the very essence of our service and goal.”

Enhanced capabilities and customer benefits

The partnership with Entuity Software is expected to provide NOS with several key advantages.

With Entuity, NOS will benefit from:
  • Continuous network discovery will enhance control over B2B customer networks
  • The software offers comprehensive visibility, allowing NOS to examine individual devices and ports to identify service and network incidents
  • An advanced event management system will prioritise network alerts, enabling focus on critical issues
  • The software provides detailed analysis of network flow, including communication between source and destination ports

Entuity's automated network discovery feature will also enable NOS to rapidly discover, add and configure devices to their network management system.

This capability is particularly valuable in today's dynamic network environments, where physical and virtual IT assets are constantly changing.

Streamlining operations and improving efficiency

The implementation of Entuity Software is expected to streamline NOS's network management operations significantly.

The software's ability to automate many aspects of network monitoring and management can lead to substantial time savings and improved operational efficiency.

Entuity's network discovery tool allows for scheduled snapshots of the network's device inventory, which can be used in reports to compare and identify changes over time.

This feature will enable NOS to keep tabs on how their network is evolving in an increasingly dynamic environment without the need for manual labour.

Furthermore, the software's support for thousands of devices from hundreds of vendors out-of-the-box, including any SNMP-compliant device, ensures that NOS will be able to monitor and manage their diverse network infrastructure effectively.

“Entuity will help NOS deliver the highest quality and most efficient services possible”, said David Cramer, President, Solutions Delivery at Park Place Technologies.

“NOS can expect improved network stability, enhanced network security and a lower cost of ownership. Plus, Entuity is highly scalable and built to handle NOS’ future needs.”
