Born in the Netherlands and educated at The Hague University and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where he earned a PhD in computer science, he previously served as a research scientist at Cornell University.
Under his leadership, Amazon developed its microservices architecture and the principles of distributed systems that underpin modern cloud computing, while advocating for serverless computing and event-driven architectures.
9. Sam Altman
CEO, OpenAI
Sam became OpenAI's CEO in 2019, leading the company through the launch of ChatGPT and GPT-4.
Born in Chicago and educated at Stanford before dropping out, he previously served as president of Y Combinator.

Matt became AWS's CEO in 2024, succeeding Adam Selipsky after serving as Amazon's cloud division's sales chief. Born in the United States and educated at the University of Michigan, he previously managed AWS's compute services and spent over 17 years in various leadership roles within Amazon. Under his leadership, AWS continues its focus on generative AI infrastructure and enterprise cloud services while facing increased competition from Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.
7. Mark Zuckerberg
CEO, Meta
Mark founded Facebook in 2004 as a Harvard undergraduate, expanding it from a college social network into a global technology company. Born in White Plains and educated briefly at Harvard before dropping out, he serves as Meta's CEO and controlling shareholder. Under his leadership, Meta acquired Instagram for US$1bn, WhatsApp for US$19bn, and pivoted the company toward virtual reality, rebranding as Meta in 2021 while investing heavily in AI development.
6. Sundar Pichai
CEO, Alphabet/Google
Sundar became Google's CEO in 2015 and Alphabet's CEO in 2019, overseeing the company's transition into artificial intelligence and cloud computing. Born in Tamil Nadu and educated at IIT Kharagpur and Stanford University, he previously led the development of Chrome and Chrome OS. Under his leadership, Google expanded its hardware offerings, launched the Pixel phone line, and developed large language models including PaLM and Gemini, while navigating increased regulatory scrutiny in Europe and the United States.

CEO, IBM
Arvind Krishna has been the CEO of IBM since 2020 and has been instrumental in transforming the 110-year-old tech giant by steering it toward cloud computing and AI solutions. 4. Dr. Lisa Su
CEO, AMD
Lisa became AMD’s CEO in 2014, transforming the struggling chipmaker into a formidable competitor in high-performance computing.
Born in Taiwan and educated at MIT, where she earned a doctorate in electrical engineering, she previously held technical roles at Texas Instruments, IBM and Freescale Semiconductor.
Under her leadership, AMD developed the Zen processor architecture and gained significant market share in both consumer and data center markets, establishing itself as a key player in semiconductor design.
3. Tim Cook
CEO, Apple
Tim became Apple's CEO in 2011, succeeding Steve Jobs and expanding the company's services revenue while overseeing the launch of AirPods and Apple Watch product lines.
Born in Alabama and educated at Auburn University and Duke University, he previously served as Apple's chief operating officer, mastering its supply chain operations.
Under his leadership, Apple's market value grew from US$348bn to exceed US$3tn in 2024, while navigating increased competition in China and shifting production towards India.
2. Satya Nadella
CEO, Microsoft
Satya became Microsoft's CEO in 2014, shifting the company's focus towards cloud computing and artificial intelligence whilst unwinding its mobile phone endeavours.
Born in Hyderabad and educated at Manipal Institute of Technology and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, he previously led Microsoft's cloud and enterprise division.
Under his leadership, Microsoft acquired LinkedIn for US$26.2bn, GitHub for US$7.5bn and completed a US$69bn purchase of Activision Blizzard in 2023, marking the technology sector's largest acquisition.

CEO, Nvidia
Jensen co-founded Nvidia in 1993, steering its evolution from a graphics chip maker to a pivotal force in AI computing.
Born in Taiwan and educated at Oregon State and Stanford, he previously worked at LSI Logic and AMD.
Under his guidance, Nvidia developed the graphics processing unit in 1999 and later expanded into data centres and automotive chips. The firm reached a US$3tn market value in 2024, reflecting its central role in generative AI infrastructure.
