Microsoft: The AI Decision Brief & Applying Gen AI at Scale

Once a futuristic concept, AI is transforming how industries and businesses operate.
The 2025 edition of Microsoft’s AI Decision Brief centres on how Gen AI is reshaping industries, providing a go-to guide for navigating this transformation.
The AI Decision Brief, debriefed
Compiled by Chief AI Officers and Microsoft executives, the AI Decision Brief aims to advance AI and drive consistent AI value in organisations regardless of industry.
Microsoft says its executives share “guidance and strategic perspectives for leaders” on the state of Gen AI in the current business landscape.
The company emphasises that a successful Gen AI implementation starts with a clearly defined AI strategy.
This involves establishing a vision for AI within an organisation, aligning it with overall business objectives and securing buy-in from C-suite executives.
Identifying a top business challenge or opportunity allows for targeted AI solutions, demonstrating measurable ROI.
Microsoft’s five drivers of value for advancing Gen AI
Microsoft analysts suggest best practices for implementing AI at scale.
- Define your AI strategy and direction
- Target a top business challenge or opportunity
- Establish AI readiness and governance
- Deploy AI to scale
- Expand AI transformation
“Microsoft is committed to sharing our learning in the age of Gen AI to further our mission of empowering every person and every organisation on the planet to do more,” the report says.
“As the real-world impacts of the AI platform shift take shape, organisations of all kinds will need to learn, adapt and refine their approaches.
“Collaboration, partnership and shared learning will be vital for everyone.”
How businesses are using Gen AI
By using Microsoft 365 Copilot, the British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is enhancing employee productivity and satisfaction while maintaining strict security and regulatory standards.
By integrating Microsoft 365 Copilot alongside the Azure OpenAI Service, BCI has streamlined processes and automated repetitive tasks.
This transformation allows employees to focus on strategic and creative work, ultimately benefiting clients and the communities they serve.
As well as this, Canadian Tire Corporation (CTC) uses Azure AI services to boost employee productivity and enhance customer experiences.
Assistants like chatbots automate tasks, freeing employees to focus on higher-value work.
CTC also created AI-powered shopping assistants, such as CeeTee, to guide customers.
By leveraging Azure OpenAI Service and Data Lake Storage, CTC has improved operational efficiency, optimised product mixes and set new benchmarks for customer engagement.
Meanwhile, Dow is reimagining productivity and supply chain efficiency with Microsoft 365 Copilot.

Within the first 12 months of roll out, Dow has streamlined processes and facilitated greater productivity for employees along with time savings.
Teladoc utilises Microsoft Copilot to streamline operations, enhance productivity and improve client experiences.
“Copilot saves us thousands of hours as an enterprise just through eliminating daily processes — it’s driving operational efficiency across Teladoc like a personal assistant that never sleeps,” says Eddie Swafford, VP of Operations at Teladoc Health.
“I can just simply focus and listen during meetings. That makes you a better leader and ultimately frees you up to be more effective.”
As well as enhancing leadership engagement, the intelligence assists new employees with faster onboarding.
Copilot's interoperability with Microsoft Power Automate and Power BI categorizes and routes client issues, reducing resolution times from days to hours.
By summarising complex issues and drafting responses to inquiries, Copilot ensures accurate and consistent communication, improving overall client satisfaction.
Emily Grimm, Supply Chain Manager at Teladoc Health, adds: “Using Copilot in Power Automate and Power BI has helped us save a lot of time by getting newer employees started quickly and answering their questions faster.
“With Copilot, we don’t have to train everyone on the best way to use Power Automate and we’re probably getting flows set up and running about 20% more quickly.”
