Luxury fashion house Dior partners with Scandit and Hardis Supply Chain to digitalise its supply chain, boosting efficiency and accuracy across warehouses

Luxury goods company Dior is working with Scandit and Hardis Supply Chain in a move to increase operational efficiency and foster innovation across its warehouses.

By introducing automation and artificial intelligence into its logistics operations, Dior could cut processing times and enable faster customer delivery.

Dior, the French luxury goods company founded in 1946, is a multinational force in jewellery, cosmetics and perfumes.

To support its global operations, Dior is transforming its warehouse operations through a new partnership with Scandit and Hardis Supply Chain.

The collaboration aims to modernise its logistics by using real-time insights to optimise workflows.

Scandit specialises in smart data capture technology that provides actionable insights for its clients. Hardis Supply Chain offers a comprehensive warehouse management system (WMS) that connects warehouses to the wider supply chain ecosystem.

Its cloud-based software is designed to facilitate supply chain transformation, boosting both commercial and operational performance.

AI and smart data capture in logistics

The partnership will see Scandit’s MatrixScan Count technology embedded within Hardis’s warehouse management software.

This integration is designed to ensure logistics reliability between Dior’s warehouses and stores, creating a connected and streamlined channel for data sharing, which could reduce the risk of incorrect information and manual errors.

“Dior’s vision demonstrates how smart data capture can revolutionise logistics,” says Samuel Mueller, CEO & Co‑Founder of Scandit.

“Our partnership with Dior and Hardis Supply Chain is an example of how artificial intelligence and augmented reality can be combined to give frontline workers real-time insights, enhance legacy operational processes and create true supply chain innovation – all without the need for additional hardware infrastructure.”

For a brand like Dior, which places a strong emphasis on haute couture and luxury, a high-quality client experience relies on efficient and seamless fulfilment.

This partnership looks to increase operational efficiency by leaning on automation and digitalisation to bring its logistics into a modern, streamlined system.

Enhancing warehouse management systems

A key outcome of this new system is a reported 85% reduction in shipping control time.

This allows Dior to spend less time preparing orders for shipment, freeing up workers to prioritise other actions.

The shorter processing time for items may also reduce the opportunity for mistakes to occur during fulfilment.

Through the platform, warehouse teams can simultaneously capture multiple barcodes at once using Dior’s Order Preparation app.

This capability could considerably increase operational efficiency, reducing time spent on the task and lessening the need for manual labour.

Consequently, orders can be processed faster and the customer may spend less time waiting for their item.

"At Hardis, we integrate innovative technologies like Scandit's to enhance both performance and user experience," adds Florent Boizard, General Manager of Hardis Supply Chain.

"The project with Dior is a perfect example of this approach: a technology partnership serving the operational excellence of a prestigious client."

Augmented reality and operational efficiency

Data captured by MatrixScan Count is verified within the Hardis WMS, providing instant on-screen feedback to warehouse operators through augmented reality (AR). The system then directs workers with intuitive user interface movements.

Furthermore, MatrixScan Find is utilised during the order preparation process, providing in-store price updates and helping to locate the correct item easily using an AR overlay on the device’s screen.

The Scandit and Hardis Supply Chain systems can be deployed on handheld computers.

This allows workers to scan as they move throughout the warehouse without needing to return to a static device. This mobility could lead to further automation across workflows, increasing speed and efficiency.

Using Scandit's AI-powered advanced barcode scanning, even damaged, poorly printed or partially visible barcodes can be scanned. This functionality means less time is spent rearranging boxes to get a clean scan, and more items can be processed smoothly.

For workers, this could lead to an increase in productivity and a streamlining of their day-to-day tasks.

The partnership will also provide an easier onboarding experience for new and temporary employees, meaning less time is spent on training.

The partners are now planning to implement the Scandit solution across all Dior distribution centres that use the Hardis WMS.
