Google & NTT: AI Partnership to Boost Cloud Modernisation

NTT DATA has entered into a strategic global partnership with Google Cloud to accelerate enterprise adoption of agentic AI and cloud modernisation.
This collaboration brings together NTT DATA’s deep industry expertise in AI, cloud-native modernisation and data engineering with Google Cloud’s advanced analytics, AI technologies and cloud infrastructure to deliver industry-specific, scalable solutions tailored to complex enterprise needs.
This is the first time a Japanese company has won such a contract, placing NTT DATA among a select group of global Google Cloud partners such as Accenture and Deloitte.
The partnership also comes as Gartner predicts worldwide end-user spending on public cloud services will reach US$723bn in 2025, up from US$595.7bn in 2024.
This significant growth is driven by the accelerating integration of AI technologies in IT and business operations, which is increasingly relying on modern cloud infrastructure.
The partnership, explained
The partnership between NTT DATA and Google Cloud is a global collaboration aimed at accelerating AI-powered cloud innovation and enterprise transformation across industries.
It combines NTT DATA's expertise in AI, cloud-native modernisation and data engineering with Google Cloud’s advanced AI, analytics, and cloud technologies to deliver tailored, scalable industry-specific solutions.
The alliance emphasises co-innovation, leveraging proven frameworks and best practices for solutions across sectors such as financial services, healthcare, manufacturing and retail.
With strategic investments in a dedicated global Google Cloud Business Group and joint go-to-market efforts, the partnership is designed to drive seamless AI adoption and cloud modernisation at scale worldwide.
The partnership has already fueled a 200% increase in Google Cloud Platform sales pipeline in just five months.
“This collaboration with Google Cloud represents a significant milestone in our mission to drive innovation and digital transformation across industries,” says Marv Mouchawar, Head of Global Innovation at NTT DATA.
“By combining NTT DATA’s deep expertise in AI, cloud-native modernisation and enterprise solutions with Google Cloud’s advanced technologies, we are helping businesses accelerate their AI-powered cloud adoption globally and unlock new opportunities for growth.”
The impact of agentic AI
The partnership focuses on jointly developing industry-centric agentic AI and cloud modernisation strategies across sectors including banking, insurance, healthcare, manufacturing, retail and public services.
For example, financial services will benefit from AI-powered regulatory compliance and reporting solutions such as NTT DATA’s Regla, leveraging Google Cloud’s scalable AI infrastructure and hospitality gains through tools like NTT DATA’s Virtual Travel Concierge, powered by Google’s Gemini AI models, which enhance customer experience via multilingual, real-time itinerary planning and personalised recommendations.
Key focus areas include:
- Building new AI solutions using Google Agentspace and Gemini models to revolutionise analytics, decision-making and customer interactions tailored by industry.
- Accelerating cloud modernisation with Google Distributed Cloud and NTT DATA’s global infrastructure, enabling secure, scalable operations from data centres to edge environments.
- Modernising enterprise applications and security frameworks with mainframe modernisation, DevOps, observability and SAP on Google Cloud.
- Innovating sovereign cloud deployments to meet strict regulatory and data sovereignty demands with secure air-gapped and connected environments.
“Our partnership with NTT DATA will help enterprises use agentic AI to enhance business processes and solve complex industry challenges,” says Kevin Ichhpurani, President of the Global Partner Ecosystem at Google Cloud.
“By combining Google Cloud’s AI with NTT DATA’s implementation expertise, we will enable customers to deploy intelligent agents that modernise operations and deliver significant value for their organisations.”
Expanding delivery and scale
NTT DATA has established a dedicated global Google Cloud Business Group – made up of thousands of engineers, architects and consultants – to drive adoption and delivery excellence worldwide.
The company is investing heavily in advanced training and certifications, targeting 5,000 Google Cloud-certified engineers.
This global team at NTT DATA will work in close collaboration with Google Cloud teams to help clients adopt and scale AI-powered cloud technologies.
This global alliance builds on the 2024 co‑innovation agreement between NTT DATA and Google Cloud in APAC and further bolsters NTT DATA’s acquisition of Niveus Solutions, a leading Google Cloud specialist.
