Huawei: Changing the Face of Running Tech

Huawei is making a high-profile comeback to the professional running space with its Now is Your Run global product launch in Madrid, Spain.
The event marks the debut of several new products, including the flagship HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner 2 – the company’s first professional running watch in five years – and a host of new devices designed to elevate health, fitness and mobile performance experiences.
Alongside the product launches, Huawei introduced two-time Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge as global ambassador for the HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner.
This is a clear sign of the company’s renewed focus on professional sports technology and human performance innovation.
“Running means much more than running fast,” Eliud says.
“I believe that running is the most beautiful activity on every level.
“Together with Huawei, we can reach millions of runners around the world and hopefully impact their lives in a beautiful and positive way.”
Introducing next-gen tech for professional runners
The HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner 2 is one of the main highlights of the launch and is the physical embodiment of five years of research and engineering effort.
The smartwatch introduces a new 3D floating antenna architecture designed to enhance signal precision and reduce interference – an important capability for data-driven athletes.
For the first time, Huawei has integrated an intelligent positioning algorithm that continues to calculate route and distance even when GPS connectivity is briefly lost.
The watch’s Intelligent Marathon Mode offers a one-stop experience for training and race-day management, effectively providing “a personal coach on your wrist”.
The product is not out of reach for recreational runners.
Although curated with professionals in mind, athletes of all abilities benefit from the product’s reliable, AI-guided training insights.
Eliud adds: “I am passionate to share my opinions and perspectives to improve the smartwatch experience not just for elite athletes but for runners all around the world.”
Huawei’s expanding fitness ecosystem
Complementing the GT Runner 2, Huawei has also announced upgrades across its wearable line-up.
The HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate 2 is now available in a new Green edition that extends the company’s leadership in premium fitness devices.
Maintaining full diving certification and outdoor durability, the smartwatch adds golf-specific functionality, improving accuracy and feedback for driving range and on-course performance.
At the more accessible end, the HUAWEI Band 11 Series combines lightweight design with a larger and higher-resolution display for better readability in bright conditions.
The Band integrates continuous health monitoring, activity tracking and smart notifications – making it a wearable companion for everyday wellness management.
The flagship return of the HUAWEI Mate 80 Pro
Focusing on its mobile portfolio, Huawei introduces the HUAWEI Mate 80 Pro.
The flagship solidifies Huawei’s R&D strengths, with a True-to-Color Camera system and a distinctive Dual Space Ring Design (that blends modern and classic visual elements) among some of the products’ strengths.
Along with this, HUAWEI Mate 80 Pro is enhanced with 2nd‑generation Kunlun Glass and advanced AI processing capabilities, engineered to deliver more precise imaging, improved durability and seamless user interaction.
Smart portability and audio intelligence
Huawei rounded out the showcase with the introduction of its first mini tablet, the HUAWEI MatePad Mini.
Boasting a 8.8‑inch display and ultra‑thin design, it offers portable productivity for professionals needing a lightweight device for reading, document work or entertainment on the go.
In the audio technology realm, the new HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 5 introduce the industry’s first dual-engine AI noise cancellation.
Together with a dual-drive acoustic system, the product enhances frequency precision and preserves vocal depth – a demonstration of the brand’s direction toward more adaptive and intelligent listening experiences.
Huawei’s human-centred technology vision
The product line-up ties into Huawei’s broader brand proposition “Now is Yours”, which emphasises inclusive, user-centred innovation.
This event’s theme – Now is Your Run – advances that philosophy into health and sports technology.
Huawei is signalling its ambition to merge AI-powered precision with the human pursuit of performance and wellbeing, reinforced by its partnership with Eliud.
Huawei says it aims to continue “using warm products and sincere communication to enable more people to enjoy a healthier and more vibrant life through technology”.
